Subject: 15mn challenges

I tried to do the little 15mn challenges and... well it's fun ! I had already done a lighter before, it was in fact the first object i have modelled . It was funny to see how i can make one now in limited time . Then, for the mailbox, i've been stuck for a few minutes because of a bug concerning the bump : when you rotate an object, the bump goes upside down, in a way . So i had to play with the texture, the orientation of the plane ... When i asked the question to Metacreations support at the time, they answered me it was due to the nature of the rendering engine, and there was nothing to do about it . So if you encounter this problem, just think french and say "c'est comme " or "c'est la vie" ! Those challenges are a very good way to test your modelling skills, so i've tried some scissors . It was done in 16mn with vertex objects and a sphere . It was tricky because the shapes must be aligned and the result is ... well, scissors . And there is something strange: the edges are on the wrong side of the blade ! So if you wanna try this one, let's see your techniques for modelling scissors !

Wow...scissors...I'll have to think hard about how to do that before I start it..I hate it when I have to waste my 15min thinking. I think the best part of doing these contests is how much it teaches you to think about the most efficent way. ON my last mailbox I did it with 3 spline objects but after doing it I can see how I should have just used one...these are definatly fun exercies.

Took a little longer. Pretty challenging, too. I did it in the free-form modeller. The texture is a checker pattern in the reflection channel -- 2 squares horizontally, 0 squares vertically -- to make the orange handles and silver blades in one object, without building a texture map.... It's fun, though!
