Subject: Downloaded object files loose color when file is reloaded.

I import a downloaded object like a 3D studio file into a Poser4 file like a sword for instance. Even though no texture map was provided with the object file, the sword is properly collored. The blade looks like steel, the crossguard and pommel looks like brass, and the handle looks like wood. Then I save the Poser4 file and exit the program to go eat lunch or whatever. Then when I reopen the Poser4 picture the sword will be just one solid color and now looks like one of those plastic swords that are stuck in the cherry in your martini. Does anyone know what I need to do to fix this problem?

check the materials and see if the .3ds is broken down by materials, if it is you can re-assign them to your heart's content. but be advised that some "simple" 3ds props can have 40 or 50 materials. so it can take a while to re-color a 3ds. whati do allot is export the 3ds as a obj and uv-map it and make a texture and re-import it as a obj and use that instead

Posers internal format is OBJ, but encapulated OBJs don't have materials. So you may have to save as OBJ, then build a prop file and link to the external file. Then build/edit the materials section.
