Subject: How can common questions be added to the FAQ?

The FAQ hasn't been updated in two years. How can some of the more common questions be added to it? One of the more confusing aspects of Poser to a newbie is how to install free items. Some zips install perfectly to the Poser library. Others require a bit more work to load the products. Even some of the Renderosity Marketplace items to not install to the correct folders.

Maybe you could volunteer as the FAQ tech. It's a tedious job, but someone's gotta be willing to do it. And they'll still ask here first without checking the FAQ, even if you update it.

I created the FAQ sections here and on the Poser Tech board wayyyyyy back when I was the Moderator for both forums. The information is layed out and posted on the back end of one of Renderosity's servers and can't be changed unles you have the URL and a password to log into it. I put all kinds of answers to common questions in there that people are still constantly asking here every day. So I just assumed nobody was reading it. And I stopped updating it. -ScottA

I understand that it's hard to get people to read FAQs and manuals and such. It would be nice to be able to refer to it more as the same questions keep getting asked. Maybe I'll start keeping a list of references for my answers and just throw a link up when the same question gets asked again. It doesn't help that the search engine, in the forums, isn't very good to narrow down information that people are looking for. If somebody's new, it's often hard to phrase a question right to get the correct answer even with a better search capability.

If we had a boolean search engine with 2 or 3 words and the ability to link "and" / "or" we would have an easier time locating articles. The same old questions do get asked all the time, because we always have new members. However, there are some new questions, new problems, and new solutions. An update would be good. Carolly
