Would a Sherman be adequate?

Also, try here, provided Geocities is cooperative today:

Junkshop

Greg Crowfoot sells a nice selection of period uniforms over at BBay. And you can find a free paratrooper uniform at at CoreArts.com.

you're looking for Sherman, Pershing, Grant and Lee tanks, if you do a search on those names, and Poser, something should turn up. Also, you can probably search on models as well, you can import .3ds and obj., and a few other formats as well..

The Junkshop tanks are really great in that the US models are representative of the early WW-II US tanks, like the Sherman which landed at D-Day. My favorite is the M-3 Stuart because it is an excellently detail representation of the tanks used in early Army and Marine Pacific Island campaigns. The Stuart was basically the "main battle tank" of the US prior to WW-II and is of 1930's vintage.

Another very good tank reference site. De Espona has an excellent WW-II tank collection, but they are for MAX users who can convert them to 3DS.

I was wondering if the Sherman Tank is distributable ... Since I haven't downloaded it and the Japanese doesn't work on my browser I am not sure. But if it is could someone possibly send it to me? If not I will keep trying and hoping .. thanks

And thanks Veritas777 .. Wish I could use the MAX stuff but I can't

I didn't try and download any today but you should be able to just download them- but they are LWO only I believe. I imported the Stuart into Vue 4 and that worked fine, but not sure how Poser would react. I often run these kinds of files through the extremely handy 3D Exploration until I get a specific format conversion that works well in a specific 3D program. Link is to WW-II uniforms, specifically D-Day era US Army. But there are uniforms for Britain, Germany, etc. on this site. Good references for historical accuracy. Steve Spielberg and Tom Hanks maybe do their shopping there.

I've seen a WWII uniform in freestuff..I think it's for older characters, but might work in a pinch..

Veritas77 .. Sadly it looks like a file not found or overlimit page from what I can tell (Just comparing it to the American yahoo etc) .. I will keep trying back and hope I can get through and then use the LWO file.

Poser will import .lwo but the files are sometimes a bit awkward, and there can be a lot of texturing work needed. Also the props might need re-scaling to match Poser figures. If all it costs is download time, it's worth a try.

In the downloads area at Military Meshes are a Jagdpanther German tank and an Abrams M1 tank, in .lwo, .3ds and max4 formats. They are from Gunpoint-3D, for free.
