THE PLACE FOR ALL THINGS BRYCE - GOT A PROBLEM? YOU'VE COME TO THE RIGHT PLACE

Subject: Non-3D-Personal News

Well, as I save for the digital camera I want (5 megapixel), I could not pass up the opportunity-deal to buy a new Hewlett-Packard 2.1 Megapixel for only $40.

So, I now have a quick and dirty little digital camera of my own...;o)

Surprisingly enough it takes better pictures than my brothers HP 3.1 Mp digital camera, weird but cool.

And, of course what it the first thing I am obligated to take pictures of?

Why, of course (grumble) my girlfriends 32 inch long, 20 pound black cat...

he is so adorable!!!!! Want to scushy him up, tickle his neck till he purrs in real bliss.. and have him sit on my lap when i bryce! How mean of you to grumble about shooting pix of such a gorgeous cat, AS. He is so SLEEK! pix clarity is pretty good for a 2.1..and a bargain at such a rate! I once bought a canon powershot G-1 for $1000.. (don't ask)damn good pix.. nephew took it from me... grumble..grumble. i shoot slides with a slr..

AgentSmith ( ) posted Sat, 12 June 2004 at 2:13 AM

Nah, I jest about the cat, he's cool. It only took a FEW years for him to warm up to me, lol. Picture is pretty alright for 2.1Mp, indoors, with a flash, on dark objects, lol. The flash is a little TOO strong, imo. But, for $40, never opened/used, with warranty, etc. I won't complain. ;o) Now, if I can only get the cat to sleep on his "bed" (partially seen at upper right hand corner, in the background), and NOT on the coffe table... Toby and his little stuffed buddy I bought for the little woman. Toby actually hates the stuffed cat, but loses his mind over (believe it or not) olive juice...so a little of that rubbed on Mr. Stuffed, and it's time for some "cute" pics to be taken. AS

LOL!!!!!!!!!!!! Olive juice?? That's one helluva sophisticated cat! you sure the stuffed caat isn't a taxidermy of Toby's twin??? Thae camera isn't so bad for what it is.. though dark colors together don't seem to come out really well... what's the light situation there?

Flak ( ) posted Sat, 12 June 2004 at 2:41 AM

lol, what is it with cats and coffee tables? Our next door neighbour's cat likes to sleep on our coffee table, rather than on our sofa (we have what we call a "time-share" cat arrangement - he eats there and visits and sleeps here).

No lights on at that time, other than flash. I was intentionally trying it out in darkened situation(there was some indirect sunlight through the closed curtains - top right in first photo) AS

Not bad..no red eye either! Pretty cool for a 2.1.. We had two dogs and a cat when in the West indies.. idiotic cat wldn't sleep without the two dogs curled next to her..and THEN..the best place she found to take a cat nap in the afternoons was on the book i was reading. Me on a sofa. One massive dog half taking up the sofa from behind. The other..on my lap. The cat.. on the book..and if I managed to wrangle the book away..she'd curl up on the arm of the sofa. Me? You'd have to peer thru the mass of fur to find me.

pogmahone ( ) posted Sat, 12 June 2004 at 3:14 AM

My cousin gave a small party once, and happened to invite neighbours from two streets away. The neighbours did a double-take when they saw the cat, said "Why is our Timmy here?". Cousin said "That's not your Timmy, that's our Coco." Turned out they were both right :o| My cousin used to let the cat out at night, and it would go straight round to the neigbours and sleep there.

Whoaaa, AS, that is one big *ss cat!!!! Our cats like to sleep on top of the computer monitors(can't on mine it's only 1" thick) or on the ledge near the ceiling, in winter though it's on top of the gas fireplace.....I just got a toy for our cats that Toby might like, check it out, Walmart $3.97, had 10 cats fascinated all night....

Toby specifically ignores anything that has had money spent on it to receive it. Will not touch it. BUT...the box the Digital Camera came in....forget about it, he's all over it, and mostly in it, can't get enough of the free box, lol. AS

AgentSmith, He looks like our Fang, an ol' black longhaired Persian who came to stay with us for a while . . . 40 bucks?

chohole ( ) posted Sat, 12 June 2004 at 7:44 AM

What is it with cats and empty boxes, my tabby sometimes doesn't even wait for the box to be emptied before he is inside. And if its one with polystyrene packing, well that's a double bonus. He chews up polystyrene for fun and leaves little pieces everywhere. Doesn't eat it, just chews it into scraps.

Pretty sweet deal you got there AS.... I desperately need to bring myself out of the dark ages with my digital camera. Maybe this summer I will end up picking one up.

My cat is well behaved, she's become a mostly indoor cat since my husband left. We found her in the barn with kittens when we first moved in here. But for a toy she plays with a metal screw under the dining room table. I have no idea where she found it. She's real good about staying mostly on the floor and furniture you sit on. Have never caught her up anywhere she didn't belong, yet. And the best thing about her is she's a dog toy too. Her and our dog Kyla love playing together.

electroglyph ( ) posted Sat, 12 June 2004 at 10:32 AM

He hasn't warmed up because you haven't realized yet that he owns you. That's HIS coffie table and you can sleep in the cat box. You want him off the coffie table, get a big piece of tile or marble and put it on the floor in the corner. There's nothing like warm summer nights on the cold tile especially if you happen to be covered in fir.

If you want Toby to spend any time in his bed and IF he likes cat nip ... I suggest some cat nip spray. My cats (all nine of them) love the stuff. They roll around in their freshly sprayed beds and then crash. I also put cat beds up on the desk and counters (where they are going to sleep anyway). It keeps the counters a little less furry. As for coffee tables, I got rid of mine in favor of two large ottomans with a wooden tray on one. Much more comfy for putting ones feet up, and the cats like lying on them, so it's a win-win situation. As for the handsome Toby ... he reminds me of my Newton, now gone almost four years.

Could be worse, could be raining.

Here's proof my cats consider me part of the furniture. The cat on my lap is Gracie, who disappeared shortly after this was shot(as did my goatee, lol) and the silver cat at my side is Dewey(he loves vanilla yogurt). This was shot with a Kodak 3.1 megapixel cam using just the flash for lighting(beware of sneaky friends with cameras just waiting to catch you at your worst, lol)

I swear, every Brycer seems to have a cat or two!

catlin_mc ( ) posted Sat, 12 June 2004 at 6:04 PM

I usually have two but now I'm more restrained and only have one. Mind you if a little tiddles happened along, who maybe didn't have a home, then I would just have to rescue it. Anyway cats are the bestest fun outside of computers and are so warm and cuddly. Mine comes to bed with me at night and she will sit up with me until I hit the hay. I sometimes wonder though if she isn't hearding me to bed the way she runs around my feet making sure I keep going in the right direction. 80 Catlin

Doug - Sam looks a little upset with you for taking that black marker and making those funny dots on his face, LOL> Dan - I can see why you'd miss Gracie, she looks like a sweetie. My daughter had a cat once that loved to curl up around her neck. Unfortunately he died within two months of our getting him. Broke our hearts.

Here's a pic I took a very long time ago on an old manual 35mm Minolta and I developed myself. This kitten just couldn't wait for us to empty the bag of Christmas gifts to make herself comfortable. AS, not bad at all, have fun with it. I have a Nikon D100 6 MegaPix DSLR (digital single lens reflex) I hardly use at all these days.
