Subject: Silly Texture Question

mclarsen ( ) posted Sun, 13 June 2004 at 9:44 PM · edited Wed, 08 January 2025 at 6:04 AM

After installing Carrara 3 and poking around, I seem to not be able to find where all the extra shaders are (300 according to literature) or how to access the Texture Wizard shown in same literature. I could only find jpeg textures and HDRI stuff on the content CD, but not and .CBR files. Any info as to what I'm doing wrong in installing or to point me in the right direction would be of great help.

When you select an object and go to the 'General' tab, there is a button 'Preset' next to a sphere representing the object shader. Click that and there is a whole range of textures to choose from. It is a system more or less apart from the drawers with presets on the left, so it is not that clear, even from the manual. So the Question is not silly.

Thank you Hoofdcommissaris (great name!) I swear I looked everywhere trying to find them and didn't see that button. It is strange that it is separate from the other presets. I wonder why the manuals don't cover that. Thanks again.

The manuals need to be updated so much that I think Eovia has given up on them. I almost wish that someone would take up interest and wright a good book on Carrara 3 with all sort of tricks and stuff. The one available for Carrara 1.0 is a very good book but has not been updated for Carrara 3.0

Well, there is the new *Carrara Studio 3 Handbook* by Mike de la Flor. I have not picked it up yet, but I understand it is very good! Check it out!
