Iffn ya gimme da morphs, I'll release the hostages unscathed. Iffn ya don't... he-he-heh... it will be a fate worse than death for the likes of 'em. ***** These are all morphs for Don. I'm trying for a wider ethnic range this time, but it is tricky being definitive without being stereotypical. There are 7 that I like, 3 that are not quite ready, and 2 more in the works. They don't look much like Don anymore, but I hope they are good enough. If anybody has specific requests, this is the time to let me know! First up is Robinson, wearing hair and skin by Anton... This is Josef... trying for Middle European... hair by Maya (I'm dependent on a lot of free stuff, these are just to give Deecey some ideas)

For Zuian, I wanted a young Chinese face, soft and full. I was aiming for a peaceful Buddha, but got more of a rocker? Hair by Tomiya.

Sorry about the dreadlocks (Maya), but I don't have anything else for a black man. This is Denzil, and he really needs something short and neat.

Reynard should have different hair, too. I was thinking about the folk song about Reynardine seducing a young maiden and smiling like a fox as she follows him into the woods. This skin with freckles was the only thing I had suitable for a red head. The hair is Maya, and the skin by Canary3d.

Pryor got the short straw... if I would do this to a magisterial old man, you can imagine the horrors in store for the others!

MarianneR ( ) posted Sun, 13 June 2004 at 10:22 AM

Interesting!. Don won't recognize his face when he looks in the mirror :)

DCArt ( ) posted Mon, 14 June 2004 at 5:27 AM

WOW, Carolly, you have really been busy! Every one of these faces are a work of art! I'm very proud 8-) Robinson has sort of that "Charlton Heston as Moses" look to him ... the features are very similar! I think I can get to them this week, if you'd like to send a list of the morphs you'll need! 8-D

Thank you. I have been feeding them well, but the men are understandably nervous about me and the paint pots and wigs. (Pryor is being uncooperative, so I made an example out of him.) I just hope that you have a good selection of textures and hairs for doing the promo pics. This one is Brant. He is my idea of handsome: nordic skull, strong chin, honest blue eyes, kissable lips. But the only hair I can put him in is Arizona. :sigh: He needs something a bit more romantic than that. Carolly

Y'know, these are DAMNED good. I'm incredibly impressed and looking forward to their being offered to the community in the future.

hauksdottir ( ) posted Mon, 14 June 2004 at 12:11 PM

😊 It's all Deecey's work. She's doing the hard part with magnets and morphs and stuff, I'm just twiddling dials and trying to show some range.

DCArt ( ) posted Mon, 14 June 2004 at 12:17 PM

Uh uh, Carolly ... it takes the eyes of a good artist to make something with those morphs. They're great! 8-D

hauksdottir ( ) posted Mon, 14 June 2004 at 10:31 PM

Nah... these are just starting points. Robinson was supposed to be a weathered outdoors adventurer/viking/pirate: he has good bones, but his cheeks are a bit gaunt. Someone else can take him and add more flesh to his face. With a swarthy texture and a cockade hat, he can be a Barbary Coast pirate feasting off the wealth of Spain: well-fed and successful. Alternatively, someone else can use the aging morphs and have him be marooned for a long, long, time. Coconut milk isn't the same as madeira! Hmm... I should probably do a Native American. I've got a book of photographs by Edward Curtis, which will help. If there is anything that people want, please speak up! I'm not a mind reader, and slots are filling fast. Carolly

central american hispanic (i.e. Mexican), lol

hauksdottir ( ) posted Mon, 14 June 2004 at 11:31 PM

Mayan would be a bit extreme: sloping head and crossed eyes being part of their standard of beauty. Olmec/Toltec might be more useful. I suppose you are primed to do a NMCPIATWAS? (Naked Mayan Ceremonial Priest In A Temple With A Sword?) ;^) TransPond does have all those buildings needing to be populated. OK, I'll save a slot for meso-american of some sort. Who else? Carolly

ynsaen ( ) posted Tue, 15 June 2004 at 2:18 AM

ah -- now carolly, ya missed it. the hispanic part. That requires the influence of western european features, prinicpally around the eyes and throat/jawline. Although a good Olmec would be nice. The Yucatan area has some nice elements that would have a "western" appeal... I can provide two excellent head on resources -- one let preadolescent male and one older teen/twentysomething female...

ynsaen, Are you punning on "Don" as in a Spanish grandee/landholder of the sort which carved up Mexico? :raise eyebrow: If not, send the pics to hauksdottir@earthlink.net and I'll see what I can do. A "zorro" dashing sort might be fun. Carolly

Judith, Thank you! Your ruins are Mayan or Toltec from Yucatan, aren't they? Carolly

ynsaen ( ) posted Thu, 17 June 2004 at 8:43 AM

keep an eye out and you'll note they are even a little more northerly, as well....

One thing that strikes me on all the pics is the nose. It looks too Don'ish on all the characters. And Don has an ugly nose, the way it's triangular, very narrow ridge and very broad at he nostrils, that's the main thing that makes Don always looks like Don, and it looks wrong in the same way as Judy's default rabbit eyes, placed on either side of her head. I like the morphs, they're great and you've come a long way from Don, but.. try doing something with the base nose shape and you'll get even further from him :o)

Agreed. Any way of getting rid of that annoying dimple on the tip of Don's nose ??

hauksdottir ( ) posted Mon, 26 July 2004 at 2:41 PM

There are morphs to widen/narrow the nose at top middle and bottom, and several to reshape the tip from bulbous to pointy, and some nostril morphs... among others. I have asked for a morph to remove the horizontal break at the top of the nose (a few male noses do bend at that angle, but very few). This will make flattening the nose easier, too. I have also asked for a turbinates morph for that pad on each side of the nose. It won't be so wedge-shaped with a proper bit of padding under there (and he will be able to breathe better, too). I'd also like a way to lower the area where the bottom of the nose meets the top of the philtrum... instead of a triangle the nose would have a very slight diamond shape. It would be good to get rid of that dimple on the tip. It might only be a couple of polygons, but smoothing it out would help keep the eyes from focussing on it. Carolly
