Subject: Question for multiple runtime users

Ok, I understand the need to keep the Injection poses where they are, no problem.
What about the Geometries?
Or the Texures?
Does having them in a separate Runtime cause slow loading?

I have a LOT of content to reinstall since a harddrive crashed a while back and I'd like to be able to find things.
I used to have it nice and neat, but it took months to get it that way. I'm thinking multiple Runtimes may make the task of tidying go a little smoother. I never found a decent way to back up the 11 or so Gigs of Runtime. I'm thinking smaller, CD sized ones, categorized of course.
Anything I should know or be aware of?

In that case... The only files that are an issue that I've discovered so far are the INJ/REM files for morphing. Based on that, I use the "primary" runtime for figures and the various things that go with them I can't break down easily. The attached text file is from a post done regarding this. Geom, Textures, etc -- when I install, I just point to the Runtime folder I want to install to and let it rip -- if Deltas are included, I just move them to the main runtime.

I generally keep all the geometries and textures in the main Runtime. What I seperate out is the characters, props and poses that seem to have accumulated over the years. I run two Runtimes, one that I keep the recent stuff I actually use and one that just houses all the old stuff and stuff I probably won't use anytime in the next millenia or for super-special needs. They both happen to be on the same drive, but that's a whole other issue. Anyways, I don't think there's anything wrong with putting the textures in a different location, as long as you have all your references in the files themselves pointing to the correct Runtime I would imagine. I haven't tried it myself, especially since I rarely use textures anymore...

I have 9 runtimes (including the regular 2 that come in P5.

I install all files into the individual runtimes (even directly from the DAZ installer.)

the only files i have had to move are the INJ and REM files for the 3rd generation characters.

on occation some of the characters and such will request their obj file the first time i use them.

I use windows briefcase to back up my files onto a 30gig removable USB harddrive. so that i only have to wait for it to copy over the new stuff and update the things i have changed.

Ok, just finished unzipping. Seems to be ok to have multiple Geometry and Texture folders, that was a concern. As for loading times, I don't notice a difference with the Runtime on a different drive. I'm sure I'll have a problem with paths here and there, but oh well. Imagine that, it works the way it is supposed to! Hmmm, now how do I want to arrange all this? Thanks
