THE PLACE FOR ALL THINGS BRYCE - GOT A PROBLEM? YOU'VE COME TO THE RIGHT PLACE

Subject: OT (ish) There must be something special...

diolma ( ) posted Thu, 17 June 2004 at 5:54 PM · edited Thu, 28 November 2024 at 4:24 PM

... about the Bryce Forum. Many times I have seen threads in this forum regarding the loss of a pet or worse. These threads get a lot of sympathy (quite right too). OK, personally, I try to avoid them a bit, 'cos I don't like to cry (being male and all), but I don't mind them, and sometimes I am moved regardless. But - is this the ONLY forum where these type threads appear? Is there something special about Bryce (or Bryce adherents), that appeals to the "Human" touch? I suspect that starting similar threads in most of the other forums would not elicit a similarly sympathetic response (especially now that the OT forum has gone) Just wondering (and hoping that such threads will continue to be tolerated).. Cheers, Diolma

I agree. (whoa. That was deep)

Zhann ( ) posted Thu, 17 June 2004 at 6:11 PM

Yes, this is a special forum, the people here 'are' unusual, caring, concerned individuals. We are a family, and like any family we feel the loss of a loved one to anyone here, whether pet or person, is a loss to all of us. For each life we take responsibility for, when that life is extinguished, we are are all diminished by the loss. I guess we're just a mushy, sentinmental bunch at heart....

well, the Poser forum does have a thing about 'cute' characters like Koshini, etc (not to pick on anyone specific..but Sara, Stacie, etc..;)..but they do warn ya about cuteness (most of the time..;) They're a little more 'on' in there, so they don't stray too far from Poser..;) of course, I'm a regular there, too..;)

Diolma..every morning..I wake up, brush my teeth, log onto the net..and while my mail is dwnloading, get my morning cuppa, then come back..and sit to read thru the bryce forum posts. It's like saying good morning to a friend. I've never met these pple here..and frankly..I'm so not the one to talk to strangers on the net..just a stupid quirk of mines. At times..i don't have time..just browse thru everyone's post, knowing they all ok. Times..I go into their bryce probs..it's something we all go thru...all these bryce probs. Learn a helluva lot. More than goign thru Kitchen's bible. It just seems so natural sharing our joys, sorrows..whther it be pets becoming a star in heaven or home hassles. We are there...and yes..it feels good..knowing that you can be on a comp for ages.. and have friends like these here. Not to mention...have a moderator who also understands! :)

captor213 ( ) posted Thu, 17 June 2004 at 8:56 PM

Im some what new to the forum, but i instantly realized these people are a close knit community willing to help and share stuff. And ya just cant get that anywhere else.

AgentSmith ( ) posted Thu, 17 June 2004 at 9:15 PM

We're a little closer/tighter (for lack of a better word) And, the Mod here always seemed to allow such posts that really only the people here would sympathize over. ;o) Lol... AS

Ang25 ( ) posted Thu, 17 June 2004 at 10:43 PM

This place is the bestest. I've had so many people here help me outside of the forum. And I've never been anywhere else where I felt safe hooking up to meet people from. Ang

drawbridgep ( ) posted Fri, 18 June 2004 at 1:10 AM

We are just the best. A family yes. With AS as our fun loving dad who lets us get away with stuff that other dads wouldn't. This is such a part of my routine (wake up, boot up, log on, check rosity galery and forum, see if fiancee has emailed...) Maybe I should put her first, but hey, you guys are as important. ;-)

Ang25 hits on a strange but good point. If anything I actually want to meet some of the forum members here(and vist all the cool different places too).Maybe at some point, we can have a ro'sity bryce forum get together at siggraph(what better place than a graphics show).

AS - if any of the Brycees here show up there get a pic of them and you and post that here. That would be so cool. Well its 6:30 am here, I forced myself to finish packing before logging on to check out the forum, but I still have to shower and dress before I leave for the airport. :-D The worse part about not logging in everyday (besides missing my fix) is trying to catch up on the hundreds of posts that are gonna be here when I come back! Hugs I gotta go now, be back in two weeks unless I find a cyber cafe over there, LOL. I can see it now, my daughter will be chewing me out if I try to find one. "MOM this is a vacation, you don't need a computer!" Luv you guys, Ang

Agree with everything said here, this must be the friendliest forum on the web, and the most sympathetic to others problems. Ang I hope you enjoy your vacation in our part of the world.

I think this forum IS special. Most of my recent works are C4D but I still look forward to popping back in here to keep in touch with all the cool people and things. It is family-ish.

...and Ang, have a good trip!

LOL All!! I just KNEW there had to be something special and it wasn't just me being silly. I agree with all the above sentiments. I visit serveral of the forums (fora?) here on a daily basis. Wings: (just 'cos I'm curious); Poser: (of course), and sometimes I can help there, and read Dr. Geep's latest amazing Tut, but it takes so LONG to get thru the (average) 50-70 posts per day; A couple of the "technical" forums (just to learn). But I leave the Bryce forum til last, so that I can go to bed with a warm feeling..:-)) Cheers, Diolma

Well I've got to add that most of my FAV people on the planet are in this forum and it does feel like coming home when you logon. When I was on holiday I didn't miss my computer but I did miss not being able to share all that was happening with my friends here. People are so very giving with words of concern and support here whenever the need arises and I don't think I could live without this contact in my life, EVER! Looking forward to seeing you Ang when you get to Bonny Scotland. 8) Catlin
