Subject: an easier way to create MOR files please

Is there any other way to create MOR poses apart from importing a large CR2 into Mat Pose Edit? I tried to import a 34mb figure, no props, and even after 35 minutes I was still waiting (with 1GB RAM, too). Or maybe I'm doing it incorrectly, I am just getting used to MAT poses and this is my first try at body and face MOR files. But I did follow the tute included with the free version 2.0.3, and it did warn of a long wait....but how long?? lol

In essence a MOR pose is a normal PZ2 pose saved with morphs included, with the Rotate and Translate information removed. If you're only doing one you could use your CR2 figure, morphed as you want it, to save a pose out, with morphs included, then edit the PZ2 file in a text editor. I use Syntext which will easily handle a 120Mb CR2 for editing. (I make MAT poses from them) If you remove the "Rotate" and "translate" information from each body part the pose can be applied to a CR2 figure as normal without the position of the figure changing. It looks like this: rotateZ zrot { keys { static 0 k 0 0 } } It`s okay for a couple but after doing a few in a row you lose the will to live! If you only want to do, say for example, the head just save the pose with only the head selected from the subset menu Something to consider, perhaps?

Save a pose file in Poser using "Include morph channels in pose set?" as sugested by Routledge. Get the free utility Morph Manager 4, find a link in the Free Stuff. Open your pz2 (pose file) in MM4, click the "More Options" button, select "Delete all channels from file", it will not actually delete ALL the channels, it leaves the morph (targetgeom) channels.

Mat Pose Edit 2.0.3 is slow as hell and doesn't like big character files. I recommend upgrading to the latest version (3.1.3 beta 3) and reading the new MOR tutorial. The 34MB figure should be loaded in a few seconds.

Ok thanks ppl, I just downloaded MM4 so I'll see how that works out (MM4 couldn't be found on Freestuff, I had to Google). BTW Scourge, your link for MPE doesn't seem to work.

Easiest way I've found is a Python script I got in FreeStuff. IM me if ya want it; I can't 'member what FreeStuff where, but the ReadMe sez I can give it to ya 8)

Well I already hate MM4 - I haven't a clue how to use it, and in 3 attempts it has crashed on me. I aint using it. I'd rather the help file would offer a little demo on what to do instead of just telling you what each part does - I found that confusing also. Sorry scourge, that link doesn't work either....for me anyway. Just a white screen and the word "Done" in the bottom title bar like nothing else loaded. Anyhow, I doubt I'll be forking out for MPE4 anytime soon. I guess for now I'll have to edit the CR2 files....ick.

Hmmmmm the CR2 file looks too big and even with what Routledge said, it's too complicated for me; I'd probably end up removing the wrong things. MPE4 is looking better by the minute.

lesbentley, I did exactly that and the MOR pose still wouldn't apply when I clicked it once created; nothing happened at all. Oh and scourge, your first link to MPE now seems to be working...weird.

Don't edit the cr2. Don't try importing the cr2 into MM4. Do what Routledge said, that is; in Poser save a normal pose with morphs included. Open the resulting PZ2 (NOT cr2) in MM4. Once you have saved the pz2 (pose) file out of Poser, proceed like this:

  1. Start MM4.
  2. Mouse click the "Load" button.
  3. Select "Pose Files (*.pz2)" from the ":File Types:" dropdown menu.
  4. Browse to the pz2 (pose) file you saved, and select it, click the "Open" button.
  5. Click the "More Options" button.
  6. Select "Delete all channels from file.
  7. Click the "Save File" button.
  8. Click the "Save" button.

Thats it, you have MOR pose.

I won't and can't dispute your experience, but I have never seen MM4 crash and I use it a lot, it's one of the most usefull Poser related tools, this is the first time I ever herd a bad word about MM4.

If you can't get MM4 to work the only alternatives I can see is to edit the pz2 in a text editor, or wait out MAT Pose Edit.

P.S. If you can't get MM4 working you can try the same method with MAT Pose Edit, that is work on a pz2 saved from Poser, rather than trying to load the cr2.
