Hello everyone Im new to the forum and and poser been using poser 3 or 4 months now. I have been doing 2d stuff for about 5 years and fell in love with 3d about 6 months ago when I got Bryce. I have posted some of my clothing textures but wanted to try my hand at skin textures here is my first attempt, a wip I rendered it large so you could see the mistakes too and help me improve it. Any suggestions for improvement are appreciated.

Wow... umm... what mistakes other than the neck being a different color?

Tammy ( ) posted Fri, 20 October 2000 at 2:43 AM

Thanks Chailynne, the neck is part of the body texture which will also be my first attempt here after this one is finished. I nitpick and see things in my own stuff, like the eyes need to be rounder, and I think the eyebrows and lips could stand something too just not sure what. Thanks for your nice comments.

This texture is beautiful. You said that you thought the eyebrows and lips could use a little something so I'll suggest that maybe the lips are a bit too dry looking. A little more of a moist sheen would be the only thing that I can think of. As for the eyebrows, maybe a little less density would work - you know, let a bit of skin show through the eyebrow hairs, that would get rid of the "eyebrow pencil" look. Even so, as is, this texture is awesome. It's a darn sight better than anything I could do. Kate

she looks great tammy and by the way welcome to the forum i've just started making textures for vicki and i found something that seemed to work pretty good for me. when colouring the nostrils most people say colour it in black but i tried a deep purple on my latest texture instead, and there seems to be less glow. might just be the way i have the face shaped on this certian character, but give that a try sometime if ya want to. also i love the eyelashes how did you make them? i'm having problems getting my eyelashes and eyebrows to even show up and i have everything selected correctly or so it seems and volia no texture on either of them...ces't la vie jeff

For the lips, you could give Millie a try, they are easier to do on her. The same for the nipples on the body. If you ignore the brow texture on the face all together and just use the Uppereyebrow texture, you might get better results. Leave the brow skin color and look at some of the textures at Morph World to see what you can do. Eyes rounder? Is that not at morph function, rather than a texture one? By the way, if you wish to add makeup, there is a template overlay, to identify which areas go where as far as eyeliner and such are concerned.

Hello Tammy, It looks very good, but I can think of a few comments to improve it, Hope this doesnt sound like I'm going overboard: ) I thought the left eye, my right: ) is wrong, the Iris is'nt in the center of the eye, I also noticed that the corners of they eyes where very pink, and maybe you could give the skin a bit more variation around the cheeks, and eyes, it still Looks good though! especially considering it is your first one. cheers, Darren

Thanks so much for suggestions and comments they are much appreciated, I always welcome comments to help me improve, never would consider constructive comments as going overboard I really appreciate the help. The eyes and eyebrows are my biggest challenge, the texture I did for the iris, and pupil are the same, its duplicated and placed in the other spot so Im having trouble figuring out why the one eye looks different? And on my texture they are a perfect round blue circle but in the render they have that one spot that looks angled? Hope that makes sense. I think the pink in the corner needs changed also will have to play and see how you change that. and Im going to search the for the makeup overlay. Also wanted to mention the morph on the face is from Darths 9 morph pack, which is awesome I am download challenged so could only get the morphs but they are terrific. So Thanks again for the nice comments and suggestions Im going to work on it some more and then give the body a try? Are bodies harder?

I thought the Iris was good, very convincing, its just the pupil that threw it off. In UV mapper, if you use the Edit, Color by material then Edit select by material you should be able to find out exactly where the pupil is, it might make things a bit easier. almost forgot, The texture for the body is just the same as making a texture for the head, no difference. I made this texture a few weeks back for the Zygote Demon, I was quit pleased with the way it turned out. http://www.geocities.com/daramski_uk/panpiper.htm cheers, Darren P.S if you are interested in making textures, you might want to have a look at this site, it is a gold mine for tutorials and textures, they also have a couple of Bill flemming models for download! http://mastering3dgraphics.com/
