THE PLACE FOR ALL THINGS BRYCE - GOT A PROBLEM? YOU'VE COME TO THE RIGHT PLACE

Subject: Brycetech has a new url & did you kids break the DAZ site already?

AgentSmith ( ) posted Thu, 24 June 2004 at 7:24 AM ยท edited Tue, 05 November 2024 at 12:40 AM

New url for Brycetech's site; http://brycetech.daz3d.com/ It will probably NEVER go down again, lol. ----------------- And, hey....I was looking all around DAZ earlier, now...nothing, I can get a few basic pages to come up, but not their forums or pages on Bryce Turbo, etc. Maybe they weren't expecting SO many Bryce hits.... I couldn't get the forums page up when I looked earlier - still waiting for news of that plugin....

I read the whole page for the plugin erlier. Even talk to another Mod that has already used it, says it worked perfectly for her. She said all the transparencies worked just like they were supposed to, etc. AS

that's good..went over to the Poser forum yesterday after the announcement..what a hotbed of dissapointment and paranoia..;) they seem to think you can either use Bryce or Poser, but not both, and that Daz will leave Poser out in the cold..;) btw..what plugin?

Sigh....why would DAZ NOT make products compatible with Poser? Do you know how much money they would lose? The Bryce Turbo plugin - Take your Poser figures, save them as a Poser pz3, imort that pz3 into the Free DAZ Studio, export out of there as an obj, and then import into Bryce. All the textures and transparencies carry over perfectly, period. AS

Don't worry too much about it AS... everyone knows that Curious Labs installed secret "paranoia" and "wild speculation" plugins into poser ages ago ;)

With some of the wild speculations, some people seem to forget that CURIOUS LABS owns Poser. DAZ sells Poser content. I feel much happier with Bryce at DAZ than with Corel. I think DAZ knows more about 3D. Even without any upgrades for now, Bryce has just received a hell of a lot of publicity, which can only be good. The Poser only people are looking at Bryce with new eyes.

Funny :) I installed Poser only three months or so ago and I just knew straight away they were all out to get me ;) Hi, I've not posted at Renderosity forums before but recognise a few names here. :) I'm wanting to ask about the plugin that some of you have tested? I read in the DAZ Studio forums that D/S was not capable of exporting obj files. I take it that is no longer true or else you'd not be able to export to Bryce? Plus, I'm using Poser 5 and I see various mentions of DAZ Studio using only Poser 4. Is there really going to be a problem with my using 5? I signed up to download DAZ studio but not sure if I'm ready to install yet another 3d app on my groaning computer and whether my brain will groan louder than the HD if I try to learn one more application ;) Very tempted by easier Poser importing though. Kathy

catlin_mc ( ) posted Thu, 24 June 2004 at 3:46 PM

Sorry AS it hasn't worked so well for me, it lost some of the textures, gave some of the transparencies but not all, and the names of the obj's were the full address to the textures rather than an understandable name. Apart from that I am delighted we finally have something that will bring entire Poser scenes into Bryce, I just think that at the moment it makes life a little more difficult when it comes to tweaking the textures especially if you are working on a complex scene. Catlin

Kemal ( ) posted Thu, 24 June 2004 at 5:28 PM

Did not work 100 % for me either, i think it has to do with Poser content search in DAZ studio, maybe some textures were not located at all, so couple of objects in my test just got plain white texture with no transparency... Still much better then it used to be, personally I like when I have full control over my textures, but, it certanly helps ! :) Kemal

Kathye - Welcome to our little neck of the woods - I think (emphasis on think) that you need the latest Daz studio beta to do the exporting with - its only just been put up at DAZ (earlier versions had the export disabled). The DAZ Studio/poser 5 thing - I think (once again, I'm getting this from what I remember reading) that daz studio won't import the poser 5 only sort of things like dynamic hair (as an example). Hope that helps. Agentsmith - LOL - nice :)

All the emotions that are erupting everywhere (which is par for the course), I would like to suggest to all those that do have the plugin; Tell DAZ your comments! The plugin AND DAZ Studio are both beta's. The more we talk, the more they listen. The more they listen the more influence we could later have in the production of Bryce 6. We need to create a open communication with DAZ, showing them WE are the best source for Bryce info! I believe this wholeheartedly since I have seen far more Bryce "innovations" here than anywhere else. AgentSmith

DAZ Studio will be beta for a long time yet. It's official. :-) I have tried Studio but its import of Poser 5 figures was not perfect. No, I didn't try dynamic hair, cause I was concentrating on what Studio can do, but there were problems, as you can see in the pic. The morphs done in Face Room didn't come through okay. And the positioning of the hair didn't hold in Studio.

Yeah, I had noticed DAZ's little disclaimer of certain morphs not transfering. (yet) Crazy looking character either way, lol. DAZ should buy Grouper. ;o) AS

Oh, it's from an illo for a fantasy story. She had to be mad. :-) But it's not a problem of morphs only. Note the nose. I didn't touch the nose width at all and Studio widened it.
