When to start Poser 4 with all the updates, running Windows XP, I got an error message that the request window was too big and it was going to use the next best size or something like that. But it didn't give me a document window at all. everything else seems to work as far as the interface goes, but no doc window. What happen??? How to fix??? Thanks Butch

OPen a default document window and delete whatever character you have in it. Then go to file -> import and import the Poser document you wanted.

tried that and tried to open a PZ3 file. Pose doesn't seem to work at all now. It shut itself down when I try to do that. It closes itself out completely

Edit - General Preferences - Launch to Factory State - OK. That should get you back to the Default Poser settings. Adjust to the settings you want, then go to the same menu and select Launch to Preferred State and Set Preferred State. Another good idea is to save a UI dot to recall it if this happens again.

Tried that too. Actually that was the first thing I tried. Now I am in process of copying my runtime folder to save everything in case I have to reload.

Make sure to shut down and restart poser once preferences are set or you will repeat the promp process infinitum.

I have had a similar problem with poser5. If you start poser at less than 1024 x 768 sometimes a window, in my case the UI buttons winds up outside the screen area and there seems to be no way to get it back. The message you got is poser warning you your screen resolution is too low. If you can start poser at the highest screen resolution available.

It's not ALWAYS a message about your screen resolution being too low, I get it occasionally and I NEVER change resolution on my screen, it remains at 1280960. Usually that error message pops up (at least at my computer) if I have had to shut down Poser with the three finger salute. But so far the only occurrence of No Window has been if I've opened other programs while Poser was loading. It doesn't like that. However, a simple click on "new" loads a nice empty) document --- *) Empty because I've set it to load an empty one in my preferred State. Another thing is.. you don't need to move anything in your Runtime. Even if you have to reinstall, the "old" stuff stays there, if you've installed new content. Existing files are overwritten of course, but nothing is deleted unless you do so manually. I'm not sure what happens if you uninstall Poser, but just reinstalling on top of the old leaves your Runtime in place

Thanks, I copied the runtime folder for backup purposes to make sure that I didn't lose it because of something stupid that I might have done. I have deleted it before by accident while installing Poser back on top of itself. By the way that is what I ended up doing and it works fine now. I have never had this happen before and I am still puzzled as to what actually happened!
