Subject: What is a .sit file and do I need it?

I've been downloading products from Daz3D and noticed that there is a .sit file along with a .exe file for every product. I was downloading the whole package except for once when I missed one of the .sit files. The product still works fine without it. So basically I wanted to know if it's actually necessary, or is it something that just takes up space.

The sit file is the macintosh version of the same thing -- if you are using a PC, then nope, ya don't need it :)

he he he I'm not alone. I asked this question back in May. Worst part is I had downloaded three of them before I figured out that whole Mac thing! Wasted about 8 good hours of downloading on my home computer! Kristta

I think I asked about it in jan or feb of 2000. Might have been a little later. I was actually afraid to download it because I was worried it might have been some new class of virus...

Drat! And there was I hoping that ".sit" files were a way of allowing me to take things easy in an armchair. Oh well, what a pity, never mind. Cheers, Diolma
