I had the idea to use the DS->Bryce plugin to see if I could finally get Poser figures into Maya without all the hassles I've had to use in the past. Attached are two pics. At this stage, I've only been able to use the DS2Bryce plugin on the DS beta running on Virtual PC (because I'm on a Mac!). But I have licensed copies of Maya Complete for Macintosh versions 4.5, 5.01, and 6.0, and the procedure works fine on all three versions. DAZ states 4 steps from Studio to Bryce. Mine uses 4 clicks from Studio to Maya. I will upload the full tutorial to this forum this weekend. The Mac version is due out next week, but if you have what I mentioned above, you can start tongiht.

Is there any way to import the existing bones to Maya yet?

scaramouche ( ) posted Sat, 26 June 2004 at 12:39 PM

Haven't tried that yet. Originally I wanted to devise a simple method of getting DAZ|Poser models into Maya with the least amount of work, like grouping, etc. I started with the P4 Carmen model, then, using DAZ's suggestion, I tried V2. Now I'm going to see what happens with Stephanie and V3. -scara

Totally cool. I just attended 2 Maya seminars at Alias in Toronto. Maya 6 looks great. It would a real benefit to get Poser figures into render them without all of the hassles. I am awaiting your tutorial. cheerio lululee
