THE PLACE FOR ALL THINGS BRYCE - GOT A PROBLEM? YOU'VE COME TO THE RIGHT PLACE

Subject: Poser Imports

arrow1 ( ) posted Sun, 27 June 2004 at 6:23 PM · edited Sun, 19 January 2025 at 3:24 AM

I have just purchased and installed Daz's Bryce 5 with the Turbo importer.I can import Poser Figures ok.but I cannot seem to able to select just the figure for my scene and scale it proportionally to my Landscape! Is there any way of selecting just the imported figure(or obj) and scaling to fit? arrow1

hmmm..I think that what you do in Poser is export to .obj (it's easier that way), then when you get the long list of parts, just unclick 'universe', and get the body.
I think the importer only works with Daz|Studio..but it's no biggie, since it's free from Daz anyway. As for scalining in Bryce, if you click on the object in wireframe (normal, non-rendered) display, the corners of the 'box' drawn around it will let you scale universally, whilst the x,y, and z dots will scale a side each, or both. Bryce imports everything in at the same number of 'bryce units', or size. It can be done..good luck.

as pakled mentioned, bryce imports everything at one size and then you'll need to scale the figure to fit. It's basically a guessing game as you scale so keep an eye on the figure size in relation to the landscape. It won't matter what you export or how you export it (directly from Poser or through D|S), Bryce will still import it at the same size. Once in Bryce, select the body group (includes all the body parts, clothing, etc.) and scale it using the scale tool or by pulling on the corners of the bounding box.

Many thanks all.I guess I will have to read the PDF Manual thoroughly and see what I can learn. So far it seems like a good program and easy to to find your way around. arrow1

What I do is just place my cursor over the figure mesh and click "Ctrl+Left Click", I then choose the main figure group from the pop-up menu, and resize. It is usually called "Group 1" or similar. AS

I'm sure you will get on well with Bryce, just have a good look through the manual.PDF!! are they too tight to send you a hard copy manual? I tend to use the edit tools for re-sizeing,the ones in the top toolbar.Best of luck Jed.
