Vue F.A.Q (Last Updated: 2024 Dec 13 6:58 am)
They're selling it but they don't own it. Unless e-on Software adds rigging features, this seems very unlikely. You might be able to import DAZ models, but they'd be static unless major tweaks are made to Vue. Still, a wonderful dream. A combo Poser/Vue sort of application would be ideal, especially if it also included more advanced modelling and model export features. I know, I know ... Maya, etc. ... but I'm fantasizing about more of a "budget" application. :-)
Just for kicks I tried the Bryce plugin's .obj output from DAZ Studio in Vue 4. Totally unecessary as we all know but I was curious. Most textures and transarencies imported just fine, although the figures' (Michael 2 and Victoria 3) eyeballs didn't map properly. (Easily fixed from within Vue.) I exported the default "Egyptian" scene that comes with the current version of Studio, as opposed to starting with a .pz3 of my own created in Poser. I don't know, but this might be of interest to people still using Vue 2 or 3, assuming the "smart" .obj file would import properly into Vue 2 or 3.

I'm sorry, I meant that I thought it might be helpful to Poser people who are still using Vue 2 or 3. I could be wrong but it's my understanding that .pz3 (Poser file format) import to Vue began with Vue 4. If so, perhaps Poser 4 users who are still using older versions of Vue could use the process to import objects or scenes originally created in Poser 4. I use Vue 4 (not Pro,) so there was no need to try this experiment, I just did it for fun. Instead of importing a Poser .pz3, which is the best option, I imported a "smart .obj" that was generated in DAZ Studio using the plugin intended for Bryce. Sorry if the way I'm describing this is confusing. At this point DAZ Studio is still primarily intended for "Poser content."
I think you can probably import the obj...for example, the Vicki 3 character comes as a cr2 Poser file that links to an obj geometry file. You can import the obj into Vue like other objs, but the hassle is that the textures won't import and you'll have to apply them and transmaps "by hand". I know Brycers have been doing this for ages...might want to look over in their forum and do a search. However, Poser props usually have the geometry file integrated into them, as do non-cr2 hair, so those wouldn't work...you'd need Poser to import those.
Hi Djeser
Yes I've tried to import a character from Daz ( a Kid ) to Vue. The obj file was no problem at all. I could see the kid in my landscape but all the texture, hair.. etc.. gone.
I've been trying of course manually but what a nightmare and for a not very result. No it's not the way to go.
I wisk I could find an importer/plugin or whatever to import directly a Daz character to Vue. PS: I was using Daz Studio who can now save obj file

Daz is selling Vue 4.
Maybe we will see a plugin to import directly Daz characters into Vue (or if you prefer without Poser)
I've some doubts because they've got Bryce 5 but why not...!
