Here are some sneak preview movies, showing World Studio in action. You must have the latest XVid codec installed (version 1).You can see the making of the attached picture in these movies. Sorry for the bad quality of these videos. [ "Sneak1"](http://www.renderosity.com/artistdownload.ez?fileid=12379&key=166141) [ "Sneak2"](http://www.renderosity.com/artistdownload.ez?fileid=12380&key=517803) [ "Sneak3"](http://www.renderosity.com/artistdownload.ez?fileid=12381&key=721002) [ "Sneak4"](http://www.renderosity.com/artistdownload.ez?fileid=12382&key=681548) I remind you that World Studio is an environment creator for Poser. It includes 150 terrain morphs, heightmap and Terragen terrain support. TStudio generates 4096X4096 terrain textures and PropGator "plants" props on the TStudio terrain. I am waiting any questions and comments.

Is this something like the terrain studio I beta tested? This one looks much better!

PixelMagic ( ) posted Wed, 30 June 2004 at 8:51 AM

This IS the ex Terrain Studio. There are alot of changes ( now the texture size is 4096X4096, there are alot of tiles, heightmaps-morphs and shaders, the interface improved, and there are 2 new modules: CloudGen - a cloud generator and PropGator- the one shown in the last 2 movies). You can put hundreds of props on the terrain with PropGator in minutes (it comes with 51 props: stones, grass, flowers, mushrooms, different kind of trees, etc). Now the name has changed to World Studio because the package does alot more than then. By the way, thanks alot for testing it.

Is this package going to be for sale or free? (if for sale, gets ready to move the thread to the developer's forum) Are those trees fully 3D? What is the mesh resolution -- what are we talking about in file size and polys? Does this take advantage of advanced materials properties? Are the presets salable individually? What are the scale ranges, and since I'm an advanced user of RuntimeDNA's microcrosm sets, what are the advantages of this package over it?

The package will be for sale. Why should I move the thread to the developer forum, the package is developed to work only with Poser? Yes, those trees are fully 3D. Actually the trees are Poser pp2 files (props). You can plant any prop on the terrain with propgator. There are 51 props included in this package. You can use these or other props. The terrain is 256X256 vertices. I don't know how many faces... The package requires 80 MB free space and 512 MB RAM. Yes, the presets are salable individually. You can sell or distribute shaders, texture tiles, heightmaps (as 256X256 greyscale jpegs or Terragen RAW files), props. A heightmap can be exported as a morph target for the terrain figure ( an obj morph target takes like 2 MB of disk space). There will be free updates and tools to take advantage of the advanced material properties from Poser5 (like coloured detail textures), and 3DSMAX. The terrain's dimensions are 150X150 Poser units.

That feature of being ablle to use external props -- that's Sweet! I like that! :) The terrain itself sounds pretty good -- shouldn't be a load on poser. Good to know about the salability (That always seems to make things more popular -- thought I'd ask). Since a lot of people won't understand the concept of poser units initially, could you post a distance shot showing the default poser ground plane and the size of the terrain in relation to each other (I think they'll be surprised at how big this is)? The reason it needs to be moved to the Developer's forum is that forum rules prohibit advertising in this forum. The product Showcase is for ads and the Developer's forum is for Development and involvement by members in products. They aren't my rules, and traffic is considerably lessened. However, you can post a link to those forums and specific posts in here to make sure it gets seen. I'm impressed -- which is pretty cool since I wasn't all that keen ont he first iteration -- now I'm gonna keep an eye on it (which may be bad -- I'm a bit of a gadfly, lol)

Do you still need java to run this? I suppose that it will still be needed.

Shoshanna ( ) posted Wed, 30 June 2004 at 11:22 AM

Q. Why should I move the thread to the developer forum, the package is developed to work only with Poser? A. We do not allow merchant previews of items that will be for sale in the Poser Forum. I have therefore moved your post to the Product Showcase. Shoshanna

Thanks alot for moving the thread, and sorry for posting it in the wrong place. I should have read the rules before... Yes, the package still needs java to run, which is still free for download ;). Well, I'll post a render with the sizes of the poser human figure and the terrain. Indeed, everybody was SO surprised when they've seen how huge the terrain is. The tree in the image(the one from the lower left) is like 4 times taller than the Poser human male figure.

xantor ( ) posted Wed, 30 June 2004 at 12:41 PM

when will it be finished and how much will it be?

PixelMagic ( ) posted Wed, 30 June 2004 at 12:46 PM ยท edited Wed, 30 June 2004 at 12:48 PM

Now I'm working on some shaders. After that I'll finish the manuals and then I'll upload it. It will be sold exclusively through Renderosity :D.
All I can tell you about the price is that it will be cheaper that other morphing terrains at Renderosity ;)
I hope I'll finish all these in 1 month. I'm developing it since january 2004.

I had the good fortune to beta test this product and can vouch for its flexibility.
