Thanks FastTraxx, but the tutorial only describes the sequence of steps I'm already going through. Is there no way to get a figure into B3 and have it retain its texturing? As in: when the figure is imported, the textures are already applied, I don't have to reassign them? Is this possible in Bryce 4? What I was hoping for at the moment is a better way to export from Poser. As it stands, I'm also having to recreate some bump maps, because when I downloaded them, they were already in .bum format. thanks again, - taerin
1st give the poser a texture that has those 2 or 3 pics to the top right of the materals lab(like wood) 2nd hit the image texture button it has a P on it (second button below those pics) 3rd hit the texture source editor (rose colered button above it) 4th hit load on the first box go to poser-runtime-textures and find your texture 5th delete the second box . thats all there is to it. hope everthing goes smoth, tell me if you get it to work.
Charliebucket gave you the basics... I've found also that I have to play with the ambiance, diffusion and specularity etc sliders on the left to get it to look "right" in various lightings... It seems to be kind of a feel thing, and a lot of quickie test renders. It's been a long while since I've had to do that in Bryce3D, it seems that it's easier to get it just so in Bryce4...

Oh, yeah... I had transmaps on the tip of my brain when I was typin the previous... but I guess those brain cells died in mid keystoke. ;) Somewhere around here I remeber seeing a tutorial on using Transmaps in Bryce4... way back when I first joined. You might ask FastTraxx or a couple of the Brce wizzards if they remember where those are: I paged through the arachives a bit on this forum, but I couldn't find the question that gave the links leading me to them in the first place. sorry The technique should work the same in bryce 3D, if we can ever find the tute.

Yeah, if not him... someone should. I KNOW that tutorial is around somewhere. That question was asked several times waaay back there. I'd send it to you, but I lost that download when I had to reformat my harddrive, along with a lot of the tutorials I'd collected.

In the Materials Lab, select the small arrow at the top of the screen to open the Shading Mode menu, Select Blend Transperancy. In the OPTICS section of the Material Lab, check the 2nd dot next to transperancy and set the component to picture(Click the "P"), import your transmaps into the Picture Editor, load your map into the first box, then click copy, goto the 2nd window(where bump maps go) and click paste, click ok to delete current selection. Click the Exit checkmark and return to the Materials Lab. This process will have to be repeated for each body part the tansperancy map is applied to. Ken

BTW, Im in the process of writing a new FAQ for Bryce 4, I went ahead and posted a ink to what I have so far, some of you might find portions of it enlightening, or not. Mind yu, this is still in the works, I will be adding more topics as I come across them. Ken AgainThanks Traxx. I saw a couple of those in there like the quick lens flare tute that were pretty handy. So that's how you did those... smile

Hey all, this might be a frequently asked question, but I haven't found the answer anywhere... Is there a way to get a figure from P4 into Bryce 3 with all the textures intact? The way I've been doing it so far is to export as an obj, and then once I bring it into Bryce, subselect the parts, rename them and retexure them. However, with the one I'm working on now, there are so many parts that it will take forever to go through that sequence. Is this possible when going into Bryce 3 rather than 4? Thanks in advance, - taerin
