Subject: Happy Holiday - Annual fireworks show at Clint and Lillians (Images included)

ClintH ( ) posted Mon, 05 July 2004 at 2:12 PM · edited Mon, 23 December 2024 at 11:30 PM

10th annual fireworks extravaganza at ClintH and LillianH's house!

For the last 10 years Lillian and I have had a block party where all the neighbors come out to watch about 2-3 hrs worth of insanity with fireworks.

This year I did a cost per pound analysis of the fireworks.
We had around 100lbs total. Cost per pound came to around $5.00. :)

The images were taken by my good friend Tapps with his KILLER Fuji S2 Pro 6.53mp camera. (Shaweeettt!)

Just getting started. These are shots taken before got going full force...Notice how nice and clean the court is!
I have a custom made rocket launched. I designed and constructed it about 4 years back. We got tired of bottles tipping over. Its a wooden base with 2" PVC launcher tubes with vent holes. One tube is 1.5' and the other is 3.5' tall. artistdownload.ez?fileid=12473&key=70792

These are some time laps images (6-8 seconds) of the fireworks.

The aftermath! (We cleaned up the next morning...)
We started around 9:00pm and ended around 11:40.
I was exhausted.
The bottom 2 images are time laps looking back towards my house in the woods with all the smoke from the fireworks.
I thought they looked pretty cool so I included them.

LillianH and I wish you all a happy holiday!

ahhh, nothing like a little mayhem and the potential to start a major bushfire in the woods/house to relax the day... ...all depends on where in the world you are I guess... but! - january 26th I shall get my revenge! Yes then I shall lie about all day while the rest of you toil and slave for the man! bwhahahahaa! :+P Sean Australia

Hi Sean, In Atlanta, GA. Its so wet here. Has rained every afternoon for the last 2 - 3 weeks. So the chances of fire are real slim. ;) Thanks for posting everyone. Clint

LOL, what a lot of fun you had! I'm pretty sure I heard all of it, too. Let's see...you began around June 26 shooting off just a couple each day, then really laid it on thick Friday night, yet still had plenty to carry on most of Saturday night and a good part of Sunday. Yep, I heard all of it up north. ;)

Looks as if you set the neighborhood on fire. Burn down the neighbor's houses. Great fun!

Darn it, I'm jealous. In my neighborhood, fireworks are illegal (too many old Victorian wooden houses.) Still, I made a lot of people happy with a mega-bar-b-que, so it was a good Fourth. A happy one to you Clint and Lillian and my fellow Yanks, if belatedly. It looks like you put on a great show for your neigbhors. :-) Love them pyrotechnicals.
