Subject: June challenge subject .:Slow honey days:.

"Slow honey days" Yes I know its vague,lol...truth is I dont know what it means but it evokes alot of possible imagery for me,It's something a friend of mine say's quite often & rather than ask her what it means I'd like to see everyones interpretation of it. It could be symbolic of the northern summer, could even be Winnie the pooh eating a jar of honey,lol.. ..thats up to you :) Post your images here. Cheers! Stefan

Interesting challenge. Lots of visual imagery possible there. I look forward to seeing the images this evokes. Interestingly enough (or not as the case may be) my other half is a part time Apiarist.

makes me think of days where everything slows down, as if time's mechanisms have wound down to halftime, and in doing so, details that might usually rush by become crystalline and bright, all the things one might typically take for granted laid at one's feet to sample, to appreciate... a carnival for all the senses in that slow time, stretching out towards a horizon, stretching out to the place of Forever... one aching endless moment in Eternity... but what do i know [l'il shrug] [also makes me think of lazing in the sun in a hammock listening to the buzz of insects, the song of birds, and watching the blood play on the insides of your lids, but i suppose that's an entirely different story...]

Giana, have you mistaken this for the Writer's Forum...LOL...a very apt and lovely description...actually very helpful in chosing a direction to go on this...thanx bobbystahr

The Challenge forum is open to all art...I don't see why writing should be excluded. Lovely images, Giana.

chohole ( ) posted Sun, 06 June 2004 at 10:29 AM

Good comment Dialyn, after all if a picture paints...... and all that, why shouldn't the words count as well.

Giana ( ) posted Sun, 06 June 2004 at 12:59 PM

um... that wasn't meant to be an entry or anything... don't get me started as i think i could go on for days, write many a page, enough to fill a tome and then some, were i to even attempt to try to interpret that phrase... ::giggle:: i do have enormous appreciation for your response, dialyn, for which i thank you... :))

dialyn ( ) posted Sun, 06 June 2004 at 3:09 PM

I knew it wasn't an entry...I just think writers who get inspired by the theme or a graphic that is posted should feel like they can share their work if they are so inclined. :)

I think this will be my June challenge. At least this is as slow as I can think and do.This is my words to people who are always bustling about.I took this picture while driving home on a busy day from work.So I just pulled over and sat and enjoyed for awhile.Who says rush hour cannot be enjoyable.

dbgrafix..I love that pix! If you see this everyday to and from work, your day is made! Slow honey days? where everything is a dream? Where the rest of your world which is fraught with emotions seems to be no where close by? The wind playing thru your hair? The thought of your beloved making you secure, bundled in your own world? You are loved, at peace with everyone, and yourself? Your morning bath ritual is one of those au natural ones.. milk, rose water, neem leaves (that's a herbal plant)? (just had one this morning) Soft music - Sax, or even from bridget Jones diary? White linen? A day when everything goes right? Ends with just the perfect evening? And strangely..mother nature at her very best? Image wise..man..this is such a hard one to do!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

dialyn ( ) posted Mon, 07 June 2004 at 1:21 PM

"this is such a hard one to do........." that's why it is such a challenge. But I love the honeyed words that are spilling from people. :)

Since there are no calls for an extra day or two... Time to kick this puppy into gear :) please vote for your top three images. 1st, 2nd and 3rd favs (3, 2 and 1 point respectively). Once the voting is finished, I'll tally up the totals and the winner gets to pick the theme for July's challenge. Good luck to everyone !!!

I just wanted to remind people that you can vote for yourself...truly, there is no rule that says you can't. It seems ill mannered of me when people are being so gracious, but I did want to let people know it's okay in case anyone wants to revise their votes.

chohole ( ) posted Thu, 01 July 2004 at 4:08 PM

I would find it difficult to vote for myself. I wouldn't even let my other half vote for me in the renderosity spring contest because it didn't seem right.

Yeah, I know what you mean. But it really should be the best graphic, setting aside who actually created it.

RimRunner ( ) posted Fri, 02 July 2004 at 12:52 PM

So we can get started with July's challenge. :) Have a safe and fun weekend too BTW. :)

RimRunner ( ) posted Tue, 06 July 2004 at 4:16 PM

Well... been a couple days here as well on the voting. Ah, guess the slow honey-days got us all on this challenge. ;) Really close month once again... with a tie. So, as normal, I held my own vote back in case it was needed to break the tie. :) 1st - dBgrafix 2nd - Tresamie 3rd - Chohole Always wish I could vote for 'em all. :) So.. with my votes, that brings the totals up to: Osscreepy - 3 points (who has since deleted his entry) Chohole & Dialyn - tied with 5 points each Tresamie - 8 points and winning with 9 points: dBgrafix. :) Congrats Doug. If you would be so kind as to start a new thread with July's challenge. :)

It did seem as if everyone slowed down this time....I guess we'll have to go back to marketing on each forum to stir interest. I was hoping so many people joined in on the June challenge that they would take the message back to their forums for July. I was overly optimistic. Too bad...I think the theme had a lot of possibilities. Good job, everyone!

tresamie ( ) posted Tue, 06 July 2004 at 9:04 PM

That was a fun challenge, too bad we had a light turnout. I guess everyone was out living those 'slow honey days'! We did have some great images and lots of poetic words. :)

Fractals will always amaze me!

DJB ( ) posted Tue, 06 July 2004 at 9:20 PM

Wow...thank you all . Thanks to tresamie for the message,or I almost would have forgotten about this. Getting old y'know. That place I took the picture is one of the serenest places, yet located beside a major highway. OK.tonight I will post a topic for July.
