I love the style of it with that kind of gumby look...you have some areas of the terains that are just strait edges that kind of clash with the jaged parts....also the tree is a lil too bright...and that red and grey texture behind it appears to me to be kind of just sitting on top of the sand in some places (that just might be me though)
Hmmm, IMHO..... ~I would try to link the mountains together by texture, they are radically different, and a bit small in scale for the size of the ship/plane(?)unless that was your intention ~If the ship/plane is the focus of the image, possibly zoom in on it more, or use a different angle for the crash ~the tree does stick out like a sore thumb, either ditch it altogether or have lots more with a muted tone similiar to the mountains ~Also try to tie the ground into the mountain texture, so they don't look like they are sitting on top of it.... ~there is good diagonal flow but you need a hot spot, like the ship crashing into the mtns with a big explosion, instead of it not quite hitting it yet.... ~and as you noted the smoke needs just a little tweak...

Well, I fixed many problems with the image and reposted it. For some reason the new thumbnail I uploaded isn't shown but the old one is but clicking on it you get the new, revised image. I eliminated the tree, changed the texture on the grey terrain to one that matches the other terrain more, fixed the cutoff look of the mountains, moved the plane, and tweaked the smoke. If anyone has anymore suggestions on the new image it would be quite helpful. Thanks to everyone for the great suggestions. Nunski, I love the smoke stack concept very interesting technique so i'm going to jot that one down in my memory banks, thanks again.P.S. If anyone is interested, the orange sky is available in the free stuff area under Bryce Skies&Fogs under Mistiva's Orange Sky Pack.

Working on a new scene called Disaster In The Hills and can not figure out what the scene is missing. I just can't seem to put my finger on it so I thought some of the talented artists here could help me out. I know the smoke is not quite right and the tree looks too fake but I am dreading re-rendering. It took 1 hour 23 minutes and 15 seconds (using a comp with 2.8 ghz processor and 512 mb ram). However, if someone can help me figure out what the picture is missing or has any suggestions I will fix and re-render.Thanks
