THE PLACE FOR ALL THINGS BRYCE - GOT A PROBLEM? YOU'VE COME TO THE RIGHT PLACE

Subject: OT Lost Words

So I'm packing my lunch this morning and I put in a can of Pineapple Tidbits. If you can have a bit of tid, just what the heck is a whole tid? What did it look like? Who decided a tid was too much and decided to chop them into bits? And what about repeat? don't you have to peat before you can repeat? Did anyone remember to peat first? Why don't we use peat as a word? It's just as short as speak. Maybe when the very first caveman said a word for the first time he was peating it. Now every time anyone says it they're repeating it. These are the thoughts that keep me up at night;)

Why do "coherent" and "incoherent" have opposite meanings, but "flammable" and "inflammable" mean the same thing?

And before you can refurbish, doesn't it have to be "furbished" in the first place? And if you are not "disgruntled" - are you "gruntled"?

@ICM,........it comes from the Greek; PICnious, meaning Ants, and NICtious, meaning Even More Ants. Hope this clears up any confusion.

Or when you put furniture or an interior in a house you're not furbishing it or storing it. (But technically you are storing it, it's just that nobody says that.) But people refurbish and restore interiors and furniture all the time.
