THE PLACE FOR ALL THINGS BRYCE - GOT A PROBLEM? YOU'VE COME TO THE RIGHT PLACE

Subject: So here's an idea... although I need major advice..

What to name it? lol. I sat in front of the computer when I came back from town today and I wondered... Brycean Worlds... taken. Worlds of Bryce? Meh, okay, but can I use the name Bryce without DAZ getting on my rather gorgeous butt? Oh the questions... But I did pull something together, just to see if I still had it with InDesign. Ideas people! :)

draculaz ( ) posted Tue, 13 July 2004 at 7:30 AM

And here are some ideas of my own: Whatever we call it, since I rely heavily on your advice, I need to figure out a few of the legalities of the matter. I'm torn between asking the magazine interact people and just going there with the first finished edition and going HAH!... but I digress... Until I have the format and layout prepared I'm not going to start prodding people for content. I thought in terms of sections there could be a middle feature, and then a couple of tutorials, a section with weblinks and descriptions (that ppl will be able to click and go to their respective addy's), a couple of generalized articles from him and her, and then a small show of images and the background story behind them, i.e. interviews, or maybe a piece of fiction to whatever image there is. Not to be mistaken, this will be advertised wherever Brycers meet. However, since I only know you guys, I intend to keep the first issue largely in the family and see how it comes out :) Advertisements of whatever sites and so on should be accepted, and I don't think that I should charge for them, since the emag is, after all, free. If anyone wants to help out with the layout, copy-editing, whatever, it can be done over the internet, and the month between issues gives enough time to network. More ideas? :)

I'm guessing that "Ornlu on the one second render" is the fiction article....

lmao.. right and Zhann's the full page spread. God am I in trouble over that one... But yeah, I was just joking around to fill in the spaces. There won't be any creative editing or anything like that in the real pieces. drac

pogmahone ( ) posted Tue, 13 July 2004 at 10:46 AM

Isn't Bryce a canyon? Maybe you could make a play on that? Leap into Bryce, Bryce Canyon, Bryce Country......

tjohn ( ) posted Tue, 13 July 2004 at 10:57 AM

"Brycing Magazine (Journal, Digest, News you get the idea)" Maybe you're safe using "Brycing" as it technically isn't "Bryce"? or "Brycers'" instead of "Brycing" "Ray Tracings" OK, I'm tapped out, these all look pretty lame to me once I've typed them out. Oh, well. Although that last one would make a good blog name for Rayraz. :^)

"Bryce and Beyond" for a title would leave some room for some art theory and such. If you want to stay away from using "Bryce" in the title, perhaps a play one any of Bryce's features or settings. "The Parametric."? "The Trackball."? "Render Time(s)" etc.. I think it's a wonderful idea. I'm already lookin forward to reading the first issue.

TwistedBolt ( ) posted Tue, 13 July 2004 at 1:30 PM

I like "Render Time" as muddygrub suggested...as it is something we all LOVE!lol.

"The RenderLine" something we all tend to fixate upon regardless of the app!

I like "The RenderLine" or maybe just "Renderline" Makes it sound all professional, like Dateline or something. Try something french... "Le Vache de Bryce" Translated, it means The Cow of Bryce...but no one would ever know.

vasquez ( ) posted Tue, 13 July 2004 at 4:57 PM

"Brycicle the wheels of fantasy" "Bryce on ice" "Brais" (italian correct spelling...) lol great stuff expecially the sci-fi story about Ornlu...

miden1138 ( ) posted Tue, 13 July 2004 at 5:57 PM

I know I don't speak up very often, but I like "The Renderline". It does sound all professional like. :)

catlin_mc ( ) posted Tue, 13 July 2004 at 6:06 PM

Oooo! this is very interesting. 8) I like "Renderline" or how's about "Fast Track/Tracking". Well DAZ have proclaimed to be able to accelerate the render time already? 8) Catlin

RENDERLINE! RENDERLINE! may be useful an article about the "little meditation mantra of the renderline observation" ?

pauljs75 ( ) posted Wed, 14 July 2004 at 3:19 PM

Big Renders You Can Enjoy or simply B.R.Y.C.E. Magazine. LOL. Dunno about having the word render in the name. It's been done at least twice already. Uhmmm... Or maybe HoveringSphere? As everyone has made a hovering sphere over water at least once in Bryce. Also people not familiar with Bryce would wonder what the heck it's about.
