Yes is possible but there is a catch. When you record keyframes with the prop parented the xyz translations and rotations are recorded for the parent and the prop. After recording the keyframes from 0-120 and with frame 120 showing change the props parent from whatever to universe. Then record keyframes after 120 to end of animation. If you need to alter keyframes before 120 realize that the prop is NO LONGER PARENTED. best of luck.
OK so I unparented it from the left hand ( changed it to frame 60 ) and ran the animation but the object just flies of and I looked in teh anim pallet and there was only onen key frame for the pillow.
I am not sure from your explination what I am suppose to do though. EDIT I added keyframes to the object every 5 frames then unparented it and now with a little tweaking it will be workable.

or maybe not LOL. While it does seem to work it seems to use the center of the object rather then the edge where I want it held from. I will attempt to move the centre points in hopes of that working.

Here's another option, used to "cheat" in some videogame meshes. Have two copies of the object - one parented, one not. The unparented version should be in place where it will be once it is dropped. Animate as normal, and if needed, adjust the position of the unparented version to be exactly right at the frame it needs to be. The trick: On the frame the original is "dropped", it is suddenly scaled down to .0001 / .0001 / .0001. Meanwhile, the unparented version suddenly scales UP from .0001 / .0001 / .0001 to 100/100/100, "appearing" out of nowhere. Effectively, the original vanishes and is replaced by the unparented version, which is then free to be animated as you would. A suggestion would be to have three frames before and after of eaach, at the appropriate scale. For example, if the transition is at frame 120: Frame 117: Obj1 : 100 / 100 / 100 Obj2 : .0001 / .0001 / .0001 Frame 118: Obj1 : 100 / 100 / 100 Obj2 : .0001 / .0001 / .0001 Frame 199: Obj1 : 100 / 100 / 100 Obj2 : .0001 / .0001 / .0001 Frame 120: Obj1 : .0001 / .0001 / .0001 Obj2 : 100 / 100 / 100 Frame 121: Obj1 : .0001 / .0001 / .0001 Obj2 : 100 / 100 / 100 Frame 122: Obj1 : .0001 / .0001 / .0001 Obj2 : 100 / 100 / 100 Frame 123: Obj1 : .0001 / .0001 / .0001 Obj2 : 100 / 100 / 100 Another option would be to use linear interpolation, but sometimes that can act wonky if some segements use other interpolation methods.
Remember, kids! Napalm is Nature's Toothpaste!
Yeah, I thought of that and think that that will have to be my solution :) The keyframing would work but the path of my arm on the character is fairly complex.

Another trick, similar to what Valandar suggested. Load a duplicate figure of the figure holding the prop. Copy all key frames for the orginal figure pose from frame 1-120 and apply to figure 2. Set key frame break fro this figure at last frame (120) This figure will now duplicate movement of original and then remain constant (unmoving). Parent the prop to this second figure. At frame 121 began moving prop as you wish it to travel for remainder of scene, since prop is parented to invisible duplicate, now frozen at frame 120, prop can be posed for remaing frames without figure 1 movement effecting it.

The scale method works great, I use it all the time. I do it on one frame however and it is undetectable.I used it a lot in this animation.

Hey I am making an animation but I have an object parented to my characters hand but at about frame 120 or so I want it to not be parented anymore. Is this possible, I knwo it is in other programs but is it in poser. If not then the last few hours of my like have been for nothing LOL.
