How can I import Posermodel in Vue with textures? The imported Obj Datein does not have textures. dirk.merkel@snafu.de

Hello dirk, Create a single "Project" folder. Copy all of your textures to this folder. In Poser, "Un-parent" all props, including hair. Export to OBJ format making sure the "Weld Seams" box is checked. Make sure you export to the same "Project" folder where you copied your textures. Import the OBJ file into Vue. Your textures should be applied automatically, but you will have to apply the bump and transparency maps by hand. Good luck :) -SMT

I'd rather stay in my lane than lay in my stain!

heyas; if you don't have room to put copies of all your textures in one spot, you can also use my method. ;) after exporting the obj from poser, open the corresponding mtl file in a text editor. find all the references to the texture map, and put in the full path to the image. save the mtl file, and vue will automatically load 'em for ya.

Then again, you can also apply the textures manually, once in Vue. Bloodsong is right about editing the mtl file, but if you have the HD space for it, it's probably alot quicker to copy the textures to the folder with the OBJ file. Bloodsong, you're right, but editing an mtl is not for the weak hearted, ya know. ;) Oohh.. I'm gonna get yelled at for this tomorrow at Wagner's chat....yes, I remembered to be in the correct month this time. :) Cheerios, Mike

oh geeze!! wagner's chat! i forgot all about out! d'oh! (okay, who forgot to remind me!?)

Weren't YOU supposed to remind ME? I, in turn would have then reminded you. :P DOH! Mike

ack! it's wagner's fault! he didn't post a reminder message here! :) (and editing the mtl file is not THAT hard. ;) )

We'll have to get on him about that. :) Anyway, editing the mtl isn't hard, but rather it's time consuming. I'm constantly creating new Poser characters and posing them, and each new export brings a new mtl which has to be edited, so now I simply have all my regular textures copied to the same folder in Vue (all 600MB of them!)...it's a wste of HD space, but it saves time. Remember the utility I told you about that edits the mtl file automatically? Well, the guy's been busy with some real paying jobs, but he's going to be working on it again soon. :) Cheers, Mike
