Well, I installed Poser 5 on my new office system and really enjoy the new features. However I did notice when playing around in the face room that when I apply any changes to the figure by clicking on "Apply to figure" button I get a mismatched skin color from the head to the body. I found out this could be cured by just clicking on the "Apply Shape Only" button and that would solve it. Just out curiousity, when should the "Apply to figure" feature be used if this issue keeps popping up? Anyone used it yet?

When you do apply to figure it should say change the face colour to match the map? (or words to that effect) if you type yes then the face colour is made the same as the body.

If you mean a popup windows asking for this, I did not get one when I do click on "Apply to Figure". Is there another setting that I am missing to turn on when I do this?

I never got any question about matching face and body skin either and I've got quite a few poor folks who have this problem. It's been one of the hardest things for me to remember when working in the face room.

One thing I have noticed is that the generated texturemap can leave a strip around the neck unmodified. It's part of the head-material that the faceroom texture is applied to. I have to fix it with a bit of hand-editing of the texturemap, repainting the area left in the default colour.

At least it gives me justification to buy new figures from the marketplace and not worry about it until later when I get ambitious.

Or you could just tell it to apply the geometry only... I think that's the wording. That way it won't change the coloring. ;)

Ha! Ha! You got me going there. But I did look in the face room and could not find "Apply to geometry" button just the "Apply Shape Only" which does the job. I'm starting to believe that when you hit the "Apply to figure" button it may apply the head texture again over the previous one. Kind of a double layer effect. (Someone tell me I am wrong!) I am also concluding that this "Apply to Figure" button should only be used if you are bringing in a real persons texture into the figure. This would still make an unmatched head/body texture unless you set up to map the real person's body as well.

if you fiddle with the textures in the face room , tabbed with the photo option I get a message about the mismatch when selecting apply to figure. One option adjusts the colors to a closer match with the body but preserves the beard shading. This is Poser 5 service release 4.

You simply have to do post work on any face room textures.

It sounds like you need to get service release 4. The face room should have apply shape only, apply to figure, spawn morph target and one other that I can`t remember. It does (with sr4) give you the option of fixing the face colours to match the body colours.

I just installed Release 4 yesterday but did not try my experiment again until you mentioned it was fixed in this release. You are right! I changed my settings and tried "Apply to figure." Now I DO get the window "The face color is different than the figure color. Change the face color to match the figure color? Yes! No!" That did the trick. Thanks! It never occured to me the release took care of his issue.
