well, i'll come clean. for the challenge. i wanted to use terragen for the sea, because there's no way I can actually do this in Bryce with either a killer preset or some really really hard terrain work. basically in the left half of the screen i wanna make poseidon chasing away what's his name. with choppy seas, fog, and thunderous clouds. drac

Did you try slick rock in the terrain editor? Sometimes that produces a nice effect. :-D Whats his name lol.

I had to use crazy terrain, but even then, it left that ugly bryce sort of stretch on the water. Eventually I couldn't think of much else, and just postworked over some of the weird/ugly spots. Needless to say, I postworked over most of the water, lol. I was worried it was too much, but it was only a localized section of the water, and the scene was pretty much how it came out of bryce. I asked Zhann about it, and she said it was fine(though I haden't shown her the picture), so I suppose you could take that option.

Ok so this isn't top notch but its an idea. I used slick rock and did a few other things to it. I hate the water mats that Bryce has. And I suck at the DTE, so ignore that too.

here's a theory- create a choppy terrain, as above..duplicate it, and shrink the 2nd copy slightly. Texture the larger terrain as above, then texture the 2nd with a cloud texture, and position it a hair just above the first..;) I dunno..I think it might work..give it a shot.

I use the slick rock terrain fractal as well (example at link). I think it works well.
