does anyone else find it strange that the first post in a thread is sometimes deleted ?

Sometimes the poster decides to delete it...there's been a couple of occasions I posted a question or something, and back then, we couldn't edit our posts, so it was easier to delete and repost.

It is really annoying when you are the subject of a posting that is deleted. I read it once, read all the replies...and then it disappeared. Sat here wondering do I respond to defend myself against something that no longer exists? or...do I sit here quietly with my mouth shut? I believe in SOME cases it can be cowardly.

Just left a thread by Wiztim...he deleted the first post...then after many replies and exchanges, all of his posts disappeared....making it very hard to read...does this irk anyone besides me?
