Poser - OFFICIAL F.A.Q (Last Updated: 2024 Dec 04 4:13 pm)
I don't have a problem with P5 on XP with or without QT installed.
Coppula eam se non posit acceptera jocularum.
Thank you for responses.
About the resident process of QT, I also saw on the forum of Apple.
Seemingly, this process will be revitalized like a zombie.
Although CPU should not usually be used for this type of process,
does it influence the performance of other tasks?
I have not experienced this problem in Win2K.
It is mysterious.
Moreover, is XP correction patch which is likely to be related to this released?
I am sorry. Since the same subject was contributed before, I have omitted the description of this problem carelessly. The most remarkable problem is that the displaying of icons at the time of the change of a library becomes very slow. Although it is dependent on the number of icons, it requires about 4 times as many time as this compared with case of no installation of QuickTime.
About the relation of files and APPs, I am nervous. Therefore, I always change a default setup of QT installer, and am made to remove relation except mov, aiff, and pict.
I at least have experienced this phenomenon in two different machines.
My acquaintance has also experienced the same phenomenon.
It is strange that users with this problem and users without this problem are exist.
I am not going to install QT until the solution of this problem is found.
Thank you all
The newest version of QuickTime was pre-installed on my new computer. When I un-installed it and cleaned the registry (over 40 entries),I noticed a HUGE change in poser. I went from waiting 10-15 sec for the icons to show when I changed library folders to being instantaneous. Poser in general seemed a bit faster overall. I didn't see any changes in any of my other programs,so I would say there is some relationship between Poser and QT.... Perhapes some old codeing leftover from the original Poser that was made for Mac? SWAMP
I agree with the SWAMP's idea (some relationship between Poser and QT).
I found out the behavior which suggests existence of the active relation between Poser and QuickTime.
QuickTime cannot be uninstalled while Poser5 is running. (The message that there is a program which is using QT is displayed) . By terminating of Poser5, I was able to uninstall QuickTime.
Then,,,, I installed QuickTime, with the state maintained where Poser5 is running.
Then, the performance was maintained good until Poser5 was rebooted.
The performance got worse again after rebooting Poser5 (not a OS).
This behavior is suggesting that Poser5 try to use a QuickTime module actively itself if QuickTime was installed, I think.
The cause of this problem is not kinds of DLL-overwriting but a behavior of Poser5, I think.
Well, note that poser does use common library elements that are a part of quicktime for various aspetcs of interface and animation -- always has. But they are installed by poser itself an installation time. These same elements are referred to by the TSR agent, creating a dual reference. These common library elements are present still in the current QT version (and the similar itunes component) for backwards compatibility. Note that I have both installed. I use QT in my media authoring, so it's somewhat important. I do not have the tsr enabled, and my library load time is roughly about a half second (and each of my runtimes is still quite large). I can speak only to the experience I've had across a range of systems, and will note that every system has it's own kinks and quirks once it's been used. I should also note that I have the two programs installed to different physical drives (Poser has it's own entire drive), and that QT only has association with MOV files.
thou and I, my friend, can, in the most flunkey world, make, each of us, one non-flunkey, one hero, if we like: that will be two heroes to begin with. (Carlyle)

I experienced the phenomenon which suggests that installation of QuickTime causes this problem. And performance was recovered by uninstallation of Quicktime. I experienced this phenomenon with QT5 and QT6. Have you experienced the same phenomenon?
