Hi Poser/Bryce-Gurus, I already know how to import Poser figures into Bryce. Unfortunately they always look like they are made of plastic. Can anyone of you guys give me a hint how to make the skin/figures look more realistic? Thanks a lot in advance!

Peter Sharpe's site www.petersharpe.com has two tuts you might be interested in - "Bright Eyes, Moist Lips" and "The Trouble with Victoria". There are some other Poser/Bryce tuts out there too. If these aren't of help to you let me know and I'll see what else I can dig up for you. Jade

Hopefully they don't have to look like plastic. Here is a couple I did that hopefully show that. Just a couple of things. Basically it is a combo of bump maps, specularity and ambience. http://www.renderosity.com/viewed.ez?galleryid=12410&Start=1&Sectionid=0&Form.Search=Ghostofmacbeth http://www.renderosity.com/viewed.ez?galleryid=8863&Start=1&Sectionid=0&Form.Search=Ghostofmacbeth

also check here http://www.brycetech.com I think BT has just posted a nice tutorial. I got a peek at the skin tex in development and it's really finely done. If it's not posted yet, i expect it will be soon...

The tutorial is not up yet... but it will be up hopefully by mid next week. The reason its taking so long is that Im "flashing" part of it so that the confusing parts can be watched.

Sorry to say that (I own and use Poser myself), but it's the models that look like Barbie and Ken dolls; it's not only the texture. I am using Poser exclusively for posing distant figures. It is enigmatic for me why some of the Poser faces which lack any type of expression get high rankings in the gallery... Just my two cents.

Oh i completely agree. I generally try to avoid using poser figs altogether. (because I don't have the patience to make 'em look good) Some people really have a good handle on it, and can make them look amazing, but it takes a delicate touch and some significant post production. I think you just have to know what to show, and what to hide... Zygote makes some nice models for poser that are far less awkward than the default, also some of the folks in the bryce/poser community at large have figures available for download, one that springs to mind is www.3dmodelworld.com Lannie's got some nice figures there, and she's definitely got the touch with poser. check it out. and again, Brycetech too has the touch. I saw a recent image with a poser model in it from BT, and it knocked my socks off. So it's possible, it's just not easy.... heehee that was like 8 cents worth.... ok 6 and a half... :)

I would maybe pay 5.5 cents for it (but just because I am a good fellow LOL). No, really, I have never seen poser objects, which really look good from the close view (and not like Barbie or Ken; well... maybe a little bit better, but not much!). I will nevertheless check the URLs you gave here. I have seen very good character modelling with other programs, and poser is not really a match to these programs (and probably was never intended to be...). Still worth just two cents (probably...), and its a good bargain! LOL ~Gabi
