THE PLACE FOR ALL THINGS BRYCE - GOT A PROBLEM? YOU'VE COME TO THE RIGHT PLACE

Subject: Does Bryce handle terrains and stuff better than imports?

It may be just me being stupid, but it seems to me that Bryce runs faster with lots of terrains better than with lots of imports. Whenever I have high poly scenes, it seems that if the scene is more terrains and lattices and stuff, the camera and moving objects around and such is not as slow as with a scene with about the same number of polys but with imported objects. So I was wondering if any body knows if the Bryce can handle terrains and lattices and stuff better than imported objects.

Not sure but I think its because the terrain meshs are one-sided and not two sided like objects (models). My rendering really stalls when I start adding lights and explosions.... ;)

lights (radials are fastest, other types are slower, 'procedural' (not textured) mats are faster than volume or texture (the kind created from pictures), and the higher the poly count on an import, the longer the render..at least that's been my experience..;)

I wish I'd said that.. The Staircase Wit

it's based on poly counts. i've had scenes made all out of bryce terrains and lattices that kneeled the puter.
