I've been using CRPro to redo my Poser installations and learned a great deal. It's nice to have total control. One problem I've found is with moving some Geometry files, apparently. Sometimes I use Vicky's t-shirt, and get Mike's instead. I may have screwed up something. I've had weird problems with X2000's Starship Bridge, probably for the same reason. The solution is to delete the errant stuff and reinstal from scratch. To play it safe, one could just leave the Geometry files the way they initially install.

One puzzling thing is an unfound file, figureResFile none. It shows in some pz3 files made from some scenes. It does not show in all scenes or pz3's. Any ideas about this one?

Change the extension to cr2 and open it with cr2editor or your favorite text editor and look at the line. Then you will find out if there is an actual error or not.

I must remember to remember what it was I had to remember.

The last CRPRo update handles duplicate geometry references too in addition to the same feature for textures. If you didn't update I would suggest to do so. A few week ago I got the David tunic from DAZ and the geometry file was named the same as the Dwarf/Freak one and the old CRPro referenced the wrong file. After the update It ask me which file to chose. Hope this help.

Hiya... Yes the old version of CRPro could sometimes confuse geometries with the same names...and the problem with the shirts is probably a throwback to this. I'm sorry about this problem in the initial release... sod's law, I suppose considering the huge amount of testing CRP went through! Anyway... the new version won't create any more problems in this regard. Hmmm... the "resourceFile none" lines are rather peculiar! CRPro isn't adding the "none" or anything... the lines are shown as they appear in the file... CRPro isn't quite sure what to do with them! I reckon they can be ignored... or set to "OK" ("mark as OK") so they get hidden from the UI and ignored in the future. Hope this helps!! H:))

There's an Update for CRPRo?! I must be out of the loop. Where can I get the update?! By the way, I use EditPad Lite, and it opens anything, with any extension.

Update? Where do I get that. And how do I make sure I get notified about future updates?

Glad to see I'm not the only one in the dark. Now am I the only one who is not receiving ebot notices when there are posts in this thread?!

TrekkieGrrrl ( ) posted Thu, 29 July 2004 at 4:12 AM

No, as stated in a few threads here, the e-bots are currently missing out.

You can get the updated CRPro from your "Purchases" page. I downloaded and installed it, and yes, it said "updating." I'm not really sure if the geometries dupe file checker actually works. I tell it to pass off the resolution to the Unfound Files function, but never see the geometry files after that. Of course now my gripe is the multitude of Poser stuff I've already "corrected" and burnt to CD/DVD, only to realize it's time to go through the collection and fix everything again.... That is if the Geometry duplicate file feature actually works. The jury is still out on that. Oh, I don't read every thread and missed any references to the missing ebots until finding a thread with that title.

How does one know if they already have the original or the updated version (i.e., are their release version numbers for the two)?

Intel Core I7 3090K 4.5 GhZ (overclocked) 12-meg cache CPU, 32 Gig DDR3 memory, GeoForce GTX680 2gig 256 Bit PCI Express 3.0 graphic card, 3 Western Difgital 7200 rpm 1 Tb SATA Hard Drives

I am terrible at finding or remembering version numbers. I didn't see any way to find the current version since there was no "About" option in help. I just downloaded the version in my account history, and installed it. During the install process I saw a message saying it was updating my version.

numanoid ( ) posted Thu, 29 July 2004 at 11:59 PM

When you start up correct reference, the about is on the top left next to folder to scan. Should be version 1.0.2.02 if it is updated.

hogwarden ( ) posted Fri, 30 July 2004 at 6:49 AM

Hi Guys... Wow! I'm sorry you've not been made aware of the update! I did a "mail all customers" (at least 6 weeks ago?!?) but I suppose it went the same way as the ebots. BB... the scan will warn you of duplicate geom names found when it starts, but references to the dups will only get flagged if they are "questionable" ie. they don't have enough path info in them for CRPro to make an "educated guess" about which of the dups is the right one. eg. I have two files in textures thus 1: texturesshirtsbrown.jpg 2: texturestrousersbrown.jpg If a reference like this is encountered textureMap ":trousers:brown.jpg" then CRPro will correct the reference to textureMap ":runtime:textures:trousers:brown.jpg"... CRPro can tell which dup to use. However... if a reference like these are encountered textureMap ":brown.jpg" or textureMap :hats:brown.jpg" then this is a "questionable reference to a duplicated filename" and CRPro will either pass to unfound or pop up the choice box depending on your settings. Re: about box... you can show the about box (it's the splash screen!) by pressing "about" at the top of the Folders Panel. Hehe... there's a lot on the interface!! H:))

OK, Howard, then there is no real easy way to fix this problem. Bear in mind that I'd just about finished using CRPro on my entire Poser collection. Then I had taken the corrected individual items, and burnt them to CD/DVD.

The only safe alternative now seems to be starting over from scratch. It would be nice if you had an option that let us choose to deal with all duplicate geometry files at one time, regardless of whether they are "questionable." I've started renaming all geometry and texture files. Then I install to a temporary folder, run CRPro, and then copy the stuff back to my "original" files so they can be burnt to CD/DVD. I want to end up with "original" installation files for everything, then install just what I want for different projects.

Darn, would you believe I'm going into my second year of this project? Everytime I've had enough, and want to just start making pictures, something comes up, and I can't use a particular item, and start over. Or we come out with a new version of CRPro that invalidates what I've done.

Don't get me wrong, CRPro is a vital tool that we should have had all along. CRPro fixes so many problems caused by short-sighted artists, etc. This certainly has been a great learning experience.

Hi BB... Sorry you've been troubled by this. How many files had their geometries mis-pointed to the wrong duplicate by the first CRPro release? Surely it must amount to no more than a handful of files? Just re-install these from their original zips then scan with CRPro 1.0.2. The duplicate geometries filenames will be carefully treated! When they're scanned and the refs corrected (properly this time!) you can save them to your backup DVD's knowing that everything is now in order. I'm concerned that you're renaming textures and geometries... yes, go ahead and organize their folder structures but renaming the files themselves could cause more headaches than it solves...

Bobbie_Boucher ( ) posted Fri, 30 July 2004 at 10:58 AM

OK, I have no idea just how many are subject to duplicate file names... or I didn't write anything down. I'm getting ready for work now, so it's a good time to sit back, take stock, and then re-evaluate things. Thanks again for the fine software, and for being such a great person/merchant.

Bobbie_Boucher ( ) posted Fri, 30 July 2004 at 11:36 AM

An update: the duplicate geometry file problem was found in the DAZ clothing packs for Vicki, Mike, and the Millennium Kids so far. When you consider all the items in each of these clothing packs, we already have a significant problem. I'll investigate more on this in a few hours.

TrekkieGrrrl ( ) posted Fri, 30 July 2004 at 12:14 PM

Are you saying the clothing paks contains geometry with the same name? Coz mine doesn't? I just checked my geometry folder for DazClothes, in the Mill kids, MillMan and MinWonam folders, and the geometry there all have distinct names. So if you're having something with the same names there, I'd suggest a reinstall, as you may accidentally have renamed/moved something.

Yes, I was saying that the Geometry files all have the same names. I've decided just to delete everything, and reinstall, "as-is," rather than move everything around the way I wanted. It's much easier this way. It will take a few days just to do the reinstall, however.
