Subject: Editing Vickie

Hi, Here's one for y'all: It's pretty easy for me to get Vickie's eyeballs transparent in Vue d'Esprit, but Bryce is more of a problem. I can't ever manage to selecy only the eyeball material, as everything else gets in the way. I realize that the clear eyeball material can be useful for things such as reflections and transparancies, ambience, ad nauseum, but I'd just as soon get rid of it entirely. Can I edit the .obj file for Vickie in the geometries file to eliminate the eyeball material entirely so I never again have to deal with it? I have Poser 4 installed on two different drives on my PC, so if I want to use her WITH the eyeball material, I can always use my second installation, and of course, I have a backup of the .obj file, just in case. I am, of course talking about removing the eyeball geometry, and NOT anything else having to do with the eyes. Is it possible? What do I look for to delete? I might add that I successfully edited ONE of them out of an exported Vickie, using Edit Pad, but I only managed to remove one. Thanks, Mike

Mike, are you using the control/click over the eyes?? If so you normally see eye 1, eye 2, etc. I believe the transparency is 2 and you just make it transparent. If its not that one, then click through all 4 until you find the right one and you'll know next time.

When exporting from Poser4, you have the option of export the object with only the parts you want. You could uncheck the boxes for the eyeballs in the "Hierarchy Selection" window when exporting, then you won't have eyeballs when you import it into Bryce. If you select "include polygon groups as exisitng groups" in the dialog box after selecting a name for the file, you could export the object in separate parts. Another option is to export the whole body in separate parts along with the eyes, then in Bryce, click on the "u" when the object if highlighted to ungroup the body. Then select the eyeballs and click on "A" for object attribute window and select the "hidden" option so they become invisible. That way, if you ever change your mind, you can uncheck "hidden" and have them back. Good luck.

Thanks, Picnic, I finally figured out how to do the eyeballs in Bryce without editing the .obj file. :) Visualkinetics, The hierarchy for Victoria only has Right Eye and Left Eye, and they are both made up of Eyeball, Pupil, Iris, and Eyewhite, so if I don't export them, I would lose it all, and all I want to get rid of is the sphere known as "eyeball" which wraps around the rest of the eye. I'm assuming this without checking, but it seems as though I've already tried that and failed. But still, I'd LOVE to know if it's possible to edit the "eyeball" out. All of a sudden I'm wondering if the "eyeball" is more of a material and less of a .obj? Hell if I know-- I'm baffled! Thank you both. :) Cheers, mike
