Subject: Image downloading issues

OK, I know this has been done to death, but it is now affecting me (and hence I'll add my voice to the fray). Since the "site revamp", I have heard many people complaining about the images not downloading correctly, making it nigh on impossible for them to navigate the site. Well, now I get NONE of the images on Renderosity. No menus images, no galleries, not even the 'news' images on the front page. I develop these things (commercial web sites and web-based applications) for a living and I can't BELEIVE the disrespect for customers (potential & existing) displayed by the mgt/developers of Rendo given that there have been alot of complaints regarding it. I've kept my mouth shut on this as it didn't affect me and hence could be down to something as simple as a browser setting as has been implied by admins/mods as the subject arose. Well, I know what settings affect this kind of issue and I've tried them all. I am VERY upset that I cannot access the site, and understand the frustration expressed by other members.

Have you tried deleting your cookies? Also, check your computer clock. If it has the wrong date, it can do weird things to site access, IIRC. Hope this helps, Cres (BTW: site problems are best posted in the Community forum as the admins will more easily see them there.)

Yes, deleted all cookies & cached files, plus no change in computer clock. I was having issues with the galleries for the last couple of days but thought it was simply an intermittent Rendo thing (they happen). However, when I started losing ALL images - I got kinda cranky (& still am).

While orginally (when I started the post) I intended to simply get a quick fix from someone, it has ended up with me quite exasperated with Rendo's treatment of the issue. Were it not for Rendo's virtual monopoly on the Poser community (for sheer size, not for lack of alternatives) - I could not imagine them getting away with it. Hell, I've had to actually fire a person for something like this! EDIT: Oh, thanks for the suggestions Crescent. Your suggestions (while already implemented) were appreciated. The reason I didn't post this in the "Community" board is simply that (I've found) this subject is pretty much ignored.

You might want to check your firewall settings. I found I couldn't view any images one time and I discovered I had accidentally disallowed something in my firewall (Norton). I ended up having to reinstall the damn firewall as I couldn't work out how to re-allow images. Every time I wanted to view images I had to turn the flaming thing off (NOT something I wanted to do.)

I'll send an alert to the Admins asking them to look at this thread. Since it is midnight here in California, it will probably be tomorrow before someone can get back to you with some feedback. I'm also going to move it to Community Center, because it isn't a Poser issue. Carolly Poser Coordinator

I'll send an alert to the Admins asking them to look at this thread. Thanks, Carolly, but they're well aware of the problem, and have had plenty of suggestions from competent professionals as to how the problem could be addressed. They don't care. bonni

When I had this problem the date on my computer had wondered off - when I set it correctly I could view things again. Although at the minute the galleries appear to be down completely :(

Using images for navigation is not a good design decision at all ... for this site or for any other. If the graphics don't load, site visitors have no idea where to go. Even with cable or DSL the navigation buttons take forever to load. I think Rendo should rethink things a little.

Deecey, this has been a matter of contention for weeks now. Like I said, they don't care if it works, if it's good design, if it makes sense, etc. Their position is that this is the way they designed it and if people are having problems, it's just too bad. bonni
