The budget hasn't been agreed yet, so it's not copper-fastened. It's in Dublin, that's all I can say at the moment. Once the budget is agreed it should be pretty fast - the mould is already made, the parks people want to do the walling part in September, so...subject to the money being right....it could be in position by end of October. They're proposing to make the labyrinth walls using sods (i.e., you skim the sods from the path, and pile them up to make a very compact dyke). We have growth until the middle of November, growth starting again in February, so by next March or April it could look like it had been there forever.
My heartfelt congratulations! I love hearing about this kind of success! It usually comes out of the blue and blows everyone away. You have to post pics when it's complete. Well done!

Just visited the link agnes posted. WOW! Reminds me of the movie 'MIssion to Mars'. Based on the idea of an alien 'face' created on the surface of Mars that turns out to be a message from a long dead race of martians. (I'm sure many of you have seen pics of the actual 'face' from NASA)

I wish I could become solvent as well. I just had two of my 3 cars go in for repairs. Car 1- $366 ok could handle that, car 2- eek $555. Then stupid me decides car 3 should be checked. brakes and struts $950. Doesn't look like I'm becoming solvent anytime soon. BTW the only problem with having the same type or car seems to be the coincidental needing the same type of repairs. Last fall the two cars I had both needed new chips to fix heater/blower problems. This time it was master cylinder/calipers&brakes/and brakes&struts. Pog - I wish you the best, and I'll be wanting to visit Ireland to see it!
Yeah... In "The States", most suburban planners have their head up their you-know-what when it comes to any consideration of pedestrian mobility. One can't get anywhere unless they have a car. Honestly, there should be laws made requiring sidewalks and bicycle lanes and means of pedestrian access for new development or re-development. And where there are buses, the routes and scheduling usually suck unless you're in a big city such as Chicago.

Having lain awake half the night with an over-active brain, I decided to get up and work on budgets, environmental impact assessment, risk assessment, etc. etc. etc. But first I naturally have to TELL EVERYONE!!!!!!!I gave up teaching three years ago to work fulltime on sculpture, and have been surviving by the skin of my teeth ever since. But yesterday I had a meeting in a park with all the top guys for the Parks Dept. of a local council (5 of them, I don't have a notion what most of them do, but they all seemed to have a function) and the outcome is that they want to buy my work Journey to The Celestial Mountain.
The location is fantastic - a large man-made mound in otherwise very low-lying parkland. Behind the mound is a dark wood, running up to mountains (hills, really). So the head will be right at the top of the mound, snow white against the backdrop of the dark trees. The mound was formed only a few years ago from spoil from the construction of a nearby motorway, so there will be no problems with the environmental agency. The park itself is a very prestigious one, so hopefully the work will get a lot of notice, and hopefully I'll get more sales as a result.
My Bryce renders aren't very expert, but they're what sold the work. Drawings and written descriptions could never have conveyed what the work should look like.
It will take me a week to calm down :o( (or should that be :o))
