Hi ,

I've been trying to make some realistic looking astroids , so I figured that meatballs would work, Well after making about 6 different ones, I then tried to texture them , BOOM!!! Bryce crashes! everytime ! Help!

It may be a memory conflict. I can't have Photoshop and Bryce running at the same time for very long. (of course my computer is getting rather old for all this)

Attached Link: ftp://ftp.corel.com/pub/Bryce/5.0.1/win/en/

Did you buy Bryce from Daz or does it say Corel when the splash screen opens up. There is a 5.0.1 update that takes care of a lot of metaball problems. It's still available from Corel FTP. The link I attached is for the windows English update. If you are using a MAC or want German or French menus back up to ftp://ftp.corel.com/pub/Bryce/5.0.1/ directory and navigate down into the menu you want. There are two files; Bryce5.01Update.exe updates the program, Bryce lightning is only necessary if you are using multiple networked computers to render.

Well I got both ...no such luck... any other suggestions ? =(

Aldaron ( ) posted Fri, 06 August 2004 at 4:38 PM

what texture are you trying to put on them?

ringbearer ( ) posted Fri, 06 August 2004 at 5:14 PM

Yeah, I think Aldaron is right, it may be the texture. (something to do with noise if I remember). Also, it seems that I remember something about grouping and duplicating metaballs can cause crashes.

There are a lot of things worse than dying, being afraid all the time would be one.

You'd probably have much better luck creating "rocks" in Bryce and texturing them. It may take creating quite a few rocks until you get the shape you want out of the generator, but it works.

I got the textures for maya T ... I think you guys are right cause the bryce tex's work... any ...hmmm...is there a way to make the Maya Tang tex or any other digi-photo tex into mat files?

Aldaron ( ) posted Sat, 07 August 2004 at 5:52 PM
  1. Name length of texture must be less than 32 characters. 2. Size of texture must be less than 4000 x 4000 other wise Bryce will lock or crash. If the Maya Tang texture you are using has the above characteristics...fix it. If it doesn't not sure why it would crash Bryce.

i seen this earlier but did not have time to comment . I talked to a computor wiseman and he told me the vidio card. the one for games is good but they make cards for art people not gafit cads[misspelled sorry] you got to look for the cards for art it be faster and will not crash. may be something to look into. ask around that man was going to email me more information but yahoo mail crashed . I remenber about a tiger card i donot know if that the name or the brandname

what you see is not what you know; it in your face
