Subject: Help getting started

I apologize if i have broken any rules for posting this message twice but it occured to me that i may have misplaced it in a wrong catagory. I have been a big fan of this type of art and 3d design for some time but have never been able to create one of my own. I was hoping someone here could help me get started. I have some programs like photoshop and affter effects. I am using a powerbookg4. I already am able to alter photos and editing of that sort but do not understand how to do any of this CG-like art. Please give me any information on getting started that you are able... Thank you for your time and help. Mark markus_8585@yahoo.com

It all depends on what you'd like to do. For 3D modelling, your best bet would be to try out the free programs like Anim8or, Wings3D and Blender (though Blender has a pretty steep learning curve compared to the other two). The bulk of the CG art on Renderosity uses Poser, which you can buy from CuriousLabs.com -- I think they have a demo to try, as well.
