Subject: "Popular Sites" list removed???

bushi ( ) posted Thu, 02 November 2000 at 1:18 PM · edited Fri, 22 November 2024 at 2:42 PM

I do understand that running a site like Renderosity is an ever-changing process. Given that, I think that removing this list without prior notice didn't serve the community very well. Prior notice would have allowed the members on the list to migrate to the wed ring. As it is, it seems that the rug has been pulled from those members. The list generated a lot of hits for my web site so I was a bit shocked to see it had disappeared without a word from the Renderosity staff. In the future, it may be wise to at least give some notice before making a change that will cause problems for Renderosity members. Just my two cents.

Heya bushi, long time no see. The admin wants to concentrate more on the reciprocal traffic generated by the sponsor referal program. I send several people a week to your site and tutorials through links on the message board. I'm sure many others read the threads and follow there too. Do you plan to join the member referal program? -Jeff H.

Why Should the Propsguild must have a rendo link if there is not reciprocity? I'm agreed with Bushi. I got a mail from Tim when the propsguild had some sever problems about the rendo link, I answered that mail and reinstall all the links (after we solved the server problems specially the ones we had with the server extensions) So I guess maybe I will have to remove the rendo link at the propguild site if we don't get reciprocity by Renderosity. Personally I don't like the Idea to fill a suscription form to each webring related to 3d stuff. That's why The propsguild is only part of 2 webrings. I suggest you to restore the links as they was before. If you visit the propsguild's Links section there is a link to this place. That's why I think there is not excuse to not bee reciprocal, don't you think?. Removing the popular sites links is a bad idea from my point of view, because the community will get confused. The referal program works this way...the more members your referal link brings to Renderosity the higher in rank your site is. The top 15 appear on the sidebar. Ben, I dunno what that link is, it has nothing to do with this site at all. Go here for all the new info: http://www.renderosity.com/refermember.ez -Jeff

Oh, one more thing...the "Torus 3D webring" is no more. Everyone might as well remove anything to do with that.

Ok thanks Jeff. I will not sign for the referal program, anyways The most important for us is to give the propsguild's visitors anything to help them to find sites as this one. I will keep the rendo link, maybe without a banner as it was in our site but I will keep it, just for our visitors convinience. Best regardings Virus Propsguild innercircle staff

Ahh one more thing :) The links button is at the right menu, just below the members options.

Virus, I hear you and understand your position. For those sites that have referrer links to Renderosity and are near the top of the web resources, we will manually transition you to the new system in a fair way. Thanks for linking to Renderosity & please update your link to include your referral id to reflect future activity. If other sites fall in this category, please contact me, Tim

Virus, Notice that your link entitled 'Renderosity' on your site actually links to http://www.renderocity.com which is Catharina's site. You may want to check out the Rendo Referral program at Jeff's link above & update the link. Tim

Heya guys, It might be an idea if you put the fact that the Torus 3d Webring is no longer functioning in a more visible place where people can see if. You know for those of us who missed that fact, yup I sure missed the boat on this one :/ Now I'm off to rip up my front page and get rid of some defunct coding. Who said html was too hard to learn ..wait that was me...oh well now I love it :) Regards Eshal

Okay - I've moved the top 15 Web Resources over in those cases where I knew the member/site mapping. Can someone help me with the other top Web Resources? Tim
