I am curious if anybody notice any issues with Vue and Windows XP SP2. Last night when I was setting up for my image with Victory ship, I ran into several problems: 1. Occassional system would crash 2. Ran out of memory on my system. This happen because I was trying to render a large image. Even after the error, the memory was still being used. I had to shut view down. Crashing seem to resolved by turning off Windows Firewall that is enable with XP SP2. System specs: P4 3.2Ghz 800Mhz 1 Gig Memory eVCGA 6800 GT Stewart P.S. The video card is brand new - last friday, but my last weekend renders ran find. SP 2 was installed early this week - download from my MSDN Subscription.

thnx for the heads up, if nothing else ill wait alittle longer and see if more vue users hits the wall before me :) but im not to surprised even tho vue works perfectly for me im inclined to call it a sensitive app seeing the number of people having minor issues with it so i was alittle concerned over how it would work out with the new sp2 update.

In an earlier thread, Dale B mentioned stack limitation problems with the new SP2. That doesn't sound good. I plan to wait and watch some of the Boards before I touch that update. My XP system is just fine without it.

Besides Firewall, the only thing I think that maybe a problem is buffer overflow protection issue. I would expect that it could have issues with copy protection schemes.. especially if logic does something like decrypt code in memory and then execute it. This would be a real problem on cpus that support the NX bit - IE AMD 64 bits and newer 775 P4 and Xeons. As far as I can tell it now, my problem now seems to be fixed with turning off XP's firewall. It appears that XP's firewall is not the only problem I have. It did not crash last weekend at all before XP SP2 and now it does. I must have XP SP 2 so this must be fixed.

I did an email and new support forum thread last night. After the render of last night's picture, I play around with Vue scene for a while and it did not crash. So I don't think it is related to copy protection stuff. Before buying Vue I ready threads about its instability and was deeply concerned.. I desired waiting to see if reports of fixing them. But I am so impressed with images. That I had to have it. I expect XP 2 will bring out bugs and bad behavor in a lot of programs because it does not tolerate wild malious programs.

My latest work on image seem to work without any crash. I did delete the RenderCow directory which I did removed the accidental installation of it. Maybe it was just exploring so close to HMS Victory object that crash it.

No problems here running Xp and SP2, but I have XP's firewall turned off.
