Still working on the meteorites, I think I've got them figured out.

Got a decent crack in the glass I think.

Going to at least kill the building lights closest to the blasts. Thinking about a quick way to blow apart some of the buildings. Any suggestions?

The girl's going to get reworked even though I did get the sleeves to fit right.

The foreground lighting has to wait till later for speed reasons.

Thinking about adding some evacuation ships, but I'm not sure where they'd be comming from, or where I'd get them from. Not going to make them.

Comments? I promise not to yell back.

Here's what I think I'll do for the meteors. It's cheap and easy and I like that in a, um, uh, cataclysmic event. It'll work for the background but I'm still working on something for the closer ones. Thanks for the suggestions earlier.

Granted this was just a real quickie...so not really good... but you need something like this for your closer meteors?

This is a close up of what I had worked up, It did trail to white smokebut I lost the good one, I'm going to have to recreate it. Swade - how'd you do that? Every which way I'd try, the textures would fall apart when they overlapped.

Might I recommend Pidgy's excellent set of lens flares and explosions in the Bryce free stuff? They are imported as .obp's and include a light with the pic. There are several available and some yellow-to-red range ones as well. If you do not like to do post, consider that these achieve the same thing and are rendered within your original pic, so it's a native Bryce render *without post!*

I understand that Pidgy has been very ill and I have not heard of any news of him lately. He's a wonderful artist, and a really nice guy so my thoughts go out to him.

Do you have a link for those please Danamo. can't seem to find them, and they may help my latest effort. Ta!

Here's my quick take. Generate a metaball and apply a cloud texture. multireplicate about 50 offset in the y direction only scale 99 and click scale transition (this makes every ball 99% of the size of the ball before it) select the whole column and just barelty do a 3d disperse size/rotate to mix up the regularity of the line but stop before they fly appart. Group Add lights at the bottom. I used one center at 200 four further out at 50 and four even further out at 1 and no falloff.

Xenic.... I generated a rock and applied a mat....Duplicated it and made it a little bigger than the first rock. I applied Clays Fire Material to the larger(2nd) one. Then I used a booleaned cone for the fire trail and once again applied Clays Fire Material to it. For the smoke I made some spheres and applied the default burning tire smoke mat that installs with Bryce. Like I said that was a quickie and not very good... much better results, more realistic, can be had by taking a little more time than I did. Hope that made sense. Hope it helps. You have a nice scene going by the way. The cracked glass is a pretty neat effect.

It is spelt pidjy and his freestuff seems to be gone :( Here's hoping things are going well or better for him!

Pass no temptation lightly by, for one never knows when it may pass again!

Somehow I had gotten it set in my mind that the trail of the meteor would go from flame to black smoke to white smoke. Trying to do that, kept causing the textures to clip. Found a way to do what I wanted that looked good but couldn't move it, the textures were based on worldspace. I think I'm going to use electroglyph's idea. Adding the light must be the trick. Thanks every one for the great suggestions.
