I am making a model for Poser 4, the model is a tank, a sherman, well, the problen I have is the way I can animate the chains of the tank in poser 4 when the tank "walk". Is there a better way to model the chains to do that, in pieces,... Thanks.

I think it would be easier to animate the maps (tex, bump and trans or whatever combination) if your model is build in a fashion that would allow it. Go to the material room. Click the tiny little key next to U_Offset and/or V_Offset and click on "Animate" from the drop down that pops up. Then go to the appropriate frames and start keyframing by changing the U and/or V Offset for the maps for the treads as needed.

Oops. I don't have P4. Can you animate maps in P4?

No, In poser 4 you cannot use avi textures , only static images, that's the problem. I can animate the wheels that move the chains, but the chains.... I had thought that a way to animate it could be animate it like a snake, is it posible, any body has do?.... thanks anyway.

This is how you do it:

Not for the faint of heart, but you should get it no problem

You have a broken link on your example page, the codex doesn't seem to be there for PC. - Noel

Sorry, it's not my page, I am just linking you to the page I went to to learn how to do this.

I was talking about animating with a static pic, not an avi. Even so it might not work well if the model wasn't built with that in mind.

Here's the thread - see link.

Warning - have a clear head, plenty of time on hand, and prepare by taking on board a day's supply of caffine before... you even try to open this thread. Let alone comprehend it!!!

But you did ask: "Is there a better way to model the chains to do that, in pieces,..." ;-) You can't do better than instruction at the feet of the Poser (math) god VK.
