Lets, see, special permissions from the Gas Comapny, permission from the site job boss, permission from the tool pusher, agree to remove any of the company logos or names of the rigs. I did get them to sign a model release though, so that I can sell the stock photos.....

3 weeks prior to a gallery showing, I asked for permission from a state office. 4 weeks later I got permission. :( (An abandoned state hospital), guess I'll allow for more time on the next trip. Drac: I stopped by at first to get a lay of the land, Security was on me like flies on S**t.

My opinion? If you can see it from the road - it's public property as far as pics are concerned.

There is now the added problem in the US (and elsewhere) with Homeland Security. If you're taking photos of any structures, no matter how public, you could find yourself in a little room with a bright light in your eyes, being grilled by some people with little or no sense of humor for a VERY long time. No joke. And no access to legal counsel. (Under some circumstances, they don't have to allow you to speak to a lawyer at all.)

Well, if I wanted to able to sell the photos as stock, I wouldn't be able to broker with any marketplace without the legal paperwork, if there is one thing I learned working for the government it's always have a paper trail to cover your a$$.......rather tran be sued by a big corporation later.....:)

Judging from that last photo of the drilling set, and a whole pile of your other photos, you get the nicest cloud formations out that way Zhann.

Heh, I live in a city, so even if I had a digi camera, all my skys would be obliterated by buildings and smoke. (though we had our first real rain in about 2 months last night, so the bushfires should've been cooled down a bit).

Well, I finally got all the photos up from my trip to the gas drilling rig. It was quite an adventure and cost me my hearing for a day....but it was worth it! Got up close and personal with where our natural gas comes from... For those interested, take the link, the large images have a running narrative of what you're looking at...they open in a resizable popup window....Bryce Forum Coordinator....
