Does anyone know when the Poser plugin will be out? They say Fall 2000. That is now by my calendar. See article at CL http://www.curiouslabs.com/products/html/poserProPack.html

I asked them this very question yesterday, and they`re not elaborating any on "fall 2000"... so, we wait.

I am just guessing, but I think the Pro-pack roll-out may be timed to when Autodesk releases 3D Studio, Release 4. I think there might be a publicity tie-in there. Should be soon.

Thanks Polar and Fox. I wonder if Pro-pack will function with 3D Studio R4. Being the cautious person, I will wait for R4 to be in use for a while before upgrading.

From what I have learned, the Pro-Pack should be able to work with 3D Studio R3 and R4, as well as VIZ-3. It will output a Poser mesh file that will better support professional level work. Exactly what all that will entail I don't know- but it sounds like they are all close to getting something out soon. It won't be "Poser 5", instead, features that will make Poser more a part of professional 3D software tools, including I think Lightwave too. This should help Poser on the high-end and also give Poser model makers a higher level standard to work with. Some of the new Poser models people are working on new have astonishing details...

I appreciate the clarifying response. This helps me to recognize that I am on the right course. My intentions is to learn and use both Poser and 3D Studio Max on future projects. I just ordered Life Forms and Ventriloquist today in my ramp-up of acquiring skills. In the meantime while I am off learning I will be looking out for Pro Pack. Just wanted to clear some things up. I always get to these threads way late, so I apologize. We're in the midst of Pro Pack developement so I haven't had much of a chance to get here. I can't give you an actual date. I wish I could. I hate to say soon, but it will be out soon. The Pro Pack is being tested with R2.5 R3.1 now, and when we get R4 we'll start working on that right away. Compatability for 3rd party product versions not yet shipped would be offered in the form of a patch whith adequate testing completed. Lightwave for instance. We will have a 5.6 and a 6.0 plugin included in the Pro Pack, but we're at the mercy of Newtek on issues regarding 6.5. When 6.5 is in a state that we can develop for it, then we'll work on an update. The Pro Pack is not being done in lieu of Poser 5 but is a seperate product. We really want to start offering high-end tools but the majority of our users do not need them and we felt the best thing to do was offer a seperate package. We're also contemplating individual plugins for other apps. Our choice on which apps is pimarily driven by two things. First your requests. Second, the avaialability of an SDK or support from the company that created the app you want us to plug into. Hope this clears a few things up.
