Inkulator9000 is a program that takes 3D meshes and produces graphic-novel style renders in either bitmap or vector format. This release fixes bugs and improve the GUI of the program.

Above is a sample of its output create by KenMac (Ken McCarthy), highlighting what it can do.

Documentation for these changes and download location is: http://inkulator.sourceforge.net

A moderated list has been set up for release announcements: https://lists.sourceforge.net/lists/listinfo/inkulator-announce

Other samples can be found at this topic posting. This forum gave it quite a warm and enthusiastic welcome!!!.

In any case I finally had a chance to try it out.....and It works....."Beautifully". Thank you so much for sharing it with us.

If you find any problems with the new version, please post them here. I get nervous about fixing one thing but screwing up another. Thanks!!! Just a word about MAC-- sourceforge has a help wanted section, I'll see if I can find a MAC programmer. This would be an easy port All software from sourceforge MUST always stay free, and sourceforge will ALWAYS maintain a historical copy of the source/exe. I may develop other related concepts based on Inkculator into commerical software/plugins. I have to make money, just like everyone else, but writing what you are using now didn't cost me that much (my wife has a different opinion) and I feel it would be dishonest to charge for this since I used so much of other people generous code on the Internet to learn from. If I've lost money on this, I consider that not lost money, but the cost of my education, part of which was finding out just how much interest there is, thanks to all of you.

Thank you for all your time and effort and thankyou to your wife too! Well you could always sell advertising on your website where you download it from because your website will get busy. Please let me know when the mac version becomes available. Love esther

Thank you, inkulator is great!

Thanks DHenton, I can't wait to see what new features you'll be adding to this in the future. I know you've already received lots of suggestions but a big one for me would be animation.

Well, despite the horror stories about Inkulator crashing Win98 systems, I decided to bite the bullet and give it a shot..... And it worked without a hitch! Here's a quickie render using one of my old PZ3's exported as a single OBJ. This is going to be loads of fun once I get the camera and ink settings all fingered out!

Wow, from a CG standpoint I'm pumped to see all the thin lines survive. Could you tell me the origin of the dot patterns along the bottom edge of the pictures, is that post work?

It's a great program, but I can't open the .ai in Painter6 or Canvas7, which are the only illustrator capable programs I have. I also exported the Stick Man from Poser and imported to Inkulator, but it wouldn't show against the black background. I switched to Render mode, and StickMan showed just fine. I tried again with the P4 NudeWoman and she worked fine. It may be a low poly situation with the StickMan. This is all with v0.6a. It's great to see all the great results everyone is having with this.

No post-work at all. And I would Love to tell you how the dots got there, but... I forgot to save my settings!!! As soon as I get a chance to play more I'll get you some more info. :)

Hate to "complain" about a freebie but I'd like to see a "move left/right" button. I used rotate left on the .OBJ and it acted like it was on a wide sweeping arc (like being on the outside edge of a rotating platter instead of the center of the platter). So, when it swung out of view, I didn't have an easy way to get it back in view.

Anyway, it imported into AI without a hitch! I'm not much of an inker (so don't look to the image to find fault). I used Sanctum Art's incredibly detailed Howler (to see how the Inkulator picked up on the detail). Can't say I'm displeased!

Keep up the great work. Programming is very time consuming, a least, chasing bugs is ;( If this is your first program then you're doing extremely well. Most people start with "Hello World" then crash and burn. If you can live a little longer on encouragement then I know the folks here will provide plenty of that. Now, what to feed the wife?? Thank you for sharing your program with us. Best wishes, Indoda
