Hello everybody ! I took two days off my dwarf and skeleton image to have fun with Carrara and practice modelling with this dragon head . It looks so much like a bull that i've called it a dragon-bull - original name, ain't it ? ;-) Before i go into UVmapping and texturing it one day, i'd like to have your thoughts on it . Do you see things you don't like, shocking proportions, any lack of detail ? I'm waiting for your comments ! :-) litst ----> www.chez.com/litst

Hi litst! I like the model, maybe i need to see it in different axis to give you my incredible advices:-P At the first glance, in my taste, i don't like the horns (it's the right name?) because are too simple. Maybe the neck can be more thin, but it's necessary to see the complete dragon-bull to verify this. The rest is really nice, perfect:-) Can you post a version with all the axis displayed? -TOXE p.s. i haven't still received the Constantini bread:-)

I think it's very cool as is...!! But if you are aiming for a more "classic" dragon look....

Toxe thinks the horns are to simple? hmmm once they are textured I think they will be fine....depending on what you're wanting for a look... I have to agree that more views would be helpful

Neck is kinda thick, but again depends on the body you're going to attach to it ( if any), A 4 legged body (like a bull) it's fine? but for a long necked dragon you may want to slim it down. Or for attaching to a human/2 legged body

If you really want to have it look the classic dragon look.. make the jaw longer and have an over bite. Usually upper is longer but I've seen soom pretty mean looking dragons done with the lower jaw/lip rolling up in the front.

Also maybe some fangs?

That's about all i can think of... Again i like it as is, depended on what you are looking for.

Hexagon, Carrara, Sculptris, and recently Sketchup.

Thanks for your comments ! Davide is right about the horns, i've been lazy on them ... I'll redo them, probably wider and i'll try to make them more present . About the neck, i thought on the contrary that it could be wider ! Maybe i'm not far from getting it right, even though i don't like the base of it . Anyway, i was definitely going for a short neck . Fangs ... well, i though of that but I prefered to try lots of sharp teeth . I thought it was nice considering the jaw is kinda big ... What do you think ? I've attached another pic of the model . In the camera view, i've displayed the model in a perspective i really don't like : it almost looks like a nice doggy :-( . I don't plan to do the full dragon, after all this one is made for fun only, i started with a cube and said "i'll make a dragon head " :-) . I've made a search on the net for reptile images and now i have some more ideas for details . I will post an updated version later ! Oh, and sorry about the bread ... I ate it all . It was good ! :-P litst

Ok, now that i see the gauche view i think that the neck is perfect. The only thing that remain in my opinion are the horns, but i don't have a precise idea... I'll inform you if something came in to my mind:-) BTW, really cool! -TOXE

Nice Litst, Looks like a Komodo Dragon and Texas Longhorn Steer did something they shouldn't have! I'm always entranced by your characters. Mark

I like it. Excellent work. It reminds me of that old movie with Claude Rains, The Lost World, where they glued horns on an iguana and a varanus lizard.

The horns somehow remind me of the devil-dogs from Ghostbusters. I like it, he's really cool!

I like it, maybe horns like this. On second thought, it might make it look like an evil RAM from hell instead of a dragon. But a bit more curvature might work.

Really cool work. Carrara's vertex modeler is much more powerful than it used to be. Glad to see someone pushing the envelope with it. Any chance of seein the unsubdivided model?

Thanks for your comments and ideas, guys ! Here's an update of the dragon . I'm not sure about the crest, it may be tasty but doesn't look that good ... Pinklet, i won't go into a goat look, i want to stay in the "Texas Longhorn Steer" family ;-) Mateo, they did things like that in "Journey to the center of the Earth" with James Mason, too :-) litst

And here's the model in the VM, for Robert :-)

Very cool! I hope he doesn't bite down on that tongue of his. The double set of horns looks good to me and from the profile I like the ridge (crest?) across the center of the head. memaci

I like the enhancements to the hanging flesh on the neck. Maybe a subtle blood vein or two? Actually, the other day, I was standing next to someone in the grocery store who looked like this...they were looking for coupons. ;)

Hello everybody ! The model is now done and UVmapped . Thanks to all for your kind comments and useful suggestions ! :-) As Mark suggested, i've added a vein on the neck . It works well i think . I kept the crest but changed its look, redone the teeth and inner mouth and added a few stuff here and there . Now, i'll try to find some time to texture it ... litst
