I have Bryce 4, Paint Shop Pro 5, Cad 3D and 3D Architect Deluxe and here's my questions. Can I make doors and windows for a castle with Paint Shop Pro 5 and easily use them Bryce? Also 3D Architect Deluxe will export to dxf, but Bryce doesn't like the dxf and imports it flat? Love Always, Rachel

Well, you can make doors and windows in Paint Shop Pro if you make them as grayscale-to-height maps. You can then colorize those maps for the textures. Check out some of the tutorials (see the tutorials link on the sidebar) for details. DXF was originally a 2-D file format for describing architectural and engineering drawings. It was later expanded to include 3 dimensions. Your 3D Architect program may just be exporting the 2-dimensional floor plans to the DXF file - you'll have to check the documentation for that software. Bryce usually will either completely import a DXF model correctly, or it will choke and complain that it couldn't import the file at all. I've never seen it import a 3D DXF file as 2D: most likely, 3D Architect is saving the file as a 2-D floor plan. cheers --flick

You can make the doors and windows as greyscale models as flick said - but I suspect since you ask at all that that may be advanced for you... so the answer that you probably can actual deal with is this: yes, make any graphic or photographic graphic of a door or window and use it as a texture map on cube shaped as a door or a wall, etc. There are a number of places online where you can download window and door textures to try it out with before you make your own - including www.marlinstudios.com, or www.3dlinks.com under free textures. - Dave www.citizendave.com
