If anyone's ever been to AtomFilms.com, they know about some of the outstanding animation available. But today I saw a 3D rendered film that at first made me think they used the "Pal" model for the guy, but quickly realized these are all original models. When you get a chance, check out "ROCKFISH". It's one of the most outstanding action shorts I've seen yet. Made me wish Poser could handle some of the effects and lighting used, and definitely made me wish for a larger version so I could see all of the outstanding details! Awesome short film!

Jumped to watch it and... it's a real jewel! Btw did you count in the final credits how many people have been involved in that production? ;) I've seen 3 just and only for the 'visual effects'... now... maybe if any of us had a crew of 20 animators, 20 graphics and 2 or 3 visual fx expert... maybe even Poser could stand a chance :)

WOW....that's all I can say is WOW!!!! Stunning animation!

I believe stemardue is correct. Next time you watch a short animation film, check the credits. When we started our big animation project, we got in contact with Sony Pictures, and chatted with the project manager of "The Chubb Chubbs". She told us what programs they used and what was involved in undertaking the project. She said the reason why there were so many animators was because the animation becomes micro-managed. She said that an animator may be dedicated to a single emotion, or single type of clothing. I found this to be kind of funny. Could you imagine telling people, "Yeah so I am the angry guy!!"... lol

Wow, that animation is great! But if you really want your mind to blow out, check out the CG on the link above. Particularly the clip called "The Glass Cage", with the 3D clone of Brad Pitt... absolutely unbelievable! Also the one called "The Boxer" is just jaw-dropping. Some of the best CG I've ever seen anywhere. Notice the muscle deformations and how realistic the skin reacts with the underlying skeleton. All done with the Project Messiah 3D animation software. When Poser reaches THIS level, let me know. ;-)

Maybe it's my computer, but all I saw was a slide show of still images with sound effects. No animation. shrug Melanie

You may have to right click on the items and "save target as" onto a file. They are really amazing.

It's a pity rockfish cannot be downloaded as I'd love to show it to friends of mine (in New Zealand) who have a 3kB connection to the net (no dsl or cable available over there)

I have tried prudent planning long enough. From now I'll be mad. (Rumi)

Just a little more info on "Rockfish" animation short...

The movie was created by Blur Studio out of Venice, California. These guys are quite well known in the 3D industry, and prolific in the 3dsMax forum here on Renderosity where one of the guys who works for Blur Studio, Tim Jones (aka: seraph135), often posts in topics over there to assist 3dsMax users in their problems, and offers tutorials to Max users.

The software used to create the Rockfish short was 3dsMax, and more info about it can be found at the link above.

Add in Shade 7 Pro to Poser and you could do that...

thou and I, my friend, can, in the most flunkey world, make, each of us, one non-flunkey, one hero, if we like: that will be two heroes to begin with. (Carlyle)

A VERY cool CG movie! Really enjoyed it. Must have been an awful lot of work to make. I think it's possible to set up the main animations in Poser - hell of a job though! - but a lot of the lighting effects are just too much. Don't know about Shade 7.
