Okay, I made a really nice ponytail prop and started rendering it and stuff... Ran into a problem: My really nice ponytail has backfacing polygons and I don't know how to fix it! Here's a picture of the ponytail as it currently is... I don't know what I did wrong. :(

Use the Grouping Tool. Select the problem polygon(s) and ... "Reverse Group Normals" cheers, dr geep ;=]

Geep, here's the problem: It's /really/ high res. I mean... REALLY. I don't know exactly which polygons are gonna need fixed... sighs Is there a program to make objects low res?

You might try exporting it and then importing it with ... "Make polygon normals consistent" ... checked. (note - it is checked by default in P4) What s/w did you use to create the prop? cheers, dr geep ;=]

Geep, I used Extreme Morph 3d and planes to do it. The skullcap is a sphere prop refitted to V3's/S3's/David's head. And I'll definitely try it. :)

One of the things that might work: use the Grouping Tool, create a new group, Add All, and then reverse the normals. Then nake sure you set the display settings to Hidden Line or Smooth Lined. Create another new group, and now select all visible polygons (they were the backfacing polygons originally) just by dragging a rectangle around the prop. Reverse normals. Select the first group, containing all polygons, and reverse normals again. You might have to do this several times with several different views of the head, but it's the fastest way I know of to fix the problem.

The pen is mightier than the sword. But if you literally want to have some impact, use a typewriter

Thanks for all the help. I managed to work out the backfaces, sort of, so I can continue with my hair development!
