Has anyone realized any vastly improved rendering times using the "Bryce Lightning" app.? I have networked pc's, but the few times I've tried it, it hasn't seemed to make a relevant difference.

Are you rendering a single image or animation?

a) It depends on the image.. renders that normally take 2 minutes or so won't see any difference because it might take just that much extra time to do the communicating between the two computers. B) If one computer is very slow.. obviously it won't make a difference. C) I have 5 comps connected and rendering is MUCh faster when using bryce lightning than when rendering on one computer. about 1/3 to 1/4 the original time. D) it's even better than multi processor computers or hyperthreading.

I've tried it mostly on animations, but I'm more interested in large pic renders now. Thanks for the info about dual processors- been thinking about going that way; jsut trying to cut down the infernal render time.

I use it with two 2.1 ghz machines generally when I get around to doing final renders, especially if I'm using anything above the "regular" render settings (Superfine AA (16rpp) or up), and it makes a big difference. Generally cuts the time in half, which is a godsend considering how long some of my renders take. The render time for the first image I put in my gallery here took 1d 4h ~30m to render using the two machines. Regards.
